Not exactly a *service* change but from Sunday 4th October Hunslet's 42s move to Bramley, while Bramley's 5s turn into Hunslet's new electric monsters.

spent a bit of time in Halifax today, and noted First's 503 Halifax to Huddersfield (formerly Zest) service seemed to be operated by an equal amount of Halifax and Huddersfield based buses. I was under the assumption this was a Halifax depot operated route. I know Hudds ran a few boards on this route at the back end of last year, due to reported staff shortages at HX but i thought i'd seen it had reverted back to full HX operation. Does anyone know the full PVR of either depot for this route?. Apologies if posted in wrong thread.

Expect major changes to Headingley corridor services from early October, a local rag in South Leeds has reported that the 10 is to be replaced by service 1, but only between Beeston and Lawnswood with up to 8 buses an hour.

So going back to old. I don’t get how anything in the corridor can be major unless overhaul of all services. The 1 increased which is good to give more capacity on the corridor providing they keep Holt Park extension is 5 or 6 buses an hour too. I don’t understand why they don’t just launch a new service or extend the 10 up to Lawnswood and keep 1 as is. It’s far more reliable since they split the route. Or the the other suggestion, send 28 into Beeston inter working with the 10 (doing short Leeds trips) and 1 take over liberty deck.

Well with the 1 only running as far as Lawnswood roundabout, what will replace the 1 from there to Holt Park? According to the report, this change follows a review of services in the area, and the same source at First goes on to say in the report that Holt Park will still be well served by other services, so that's why I say expect major changes.

They terminate the service at Lawnswood and they basically withdraw from Otley road, Holt lane and road which offer better service over the 6. I don’t believe this will be beneficial to anyone, pushing passengers onto the 28 and X84 will only make them fuller quicker. Especially the 84/85 which come from Otley. Unless they plan on increasing that to every 10 minutes.

Be easier surely in that instance to keep them separate as 1/6? Interwork them in Holt Park. Who knows what’s coming but I think pulling the 1 from Lawnswood-Holt Park or cutting frequency down will only make other services fuller quicker or more importantly push people into their cars. Something I’m sure local councillors and MP’s will not be happy about.

Just read on the railforums website that the 784 will move to transdev operation. Not sure what truth there is in that. Would seem a little odd with them being short of buses at Keighley

Something I’m sure local councillors and MP’s will not be happy about. Service 10 at the moment is five journeys per hour (they dropped the evening service to every 40 minutes at one point!). It's more likely to be four Beeston-Holt Park services plus four (Beeston-)Leeds-Lawnswood services with the 6 increasing to six per hour or staying at four (thus keeping 12 per hour on the combined stretch from Albion Street to Lawnswood Roundabout).
With the three 27s and three 28s per hour that would give you 15 to West Park Roundabout and 18 to the Arndale - roughly one bus every 3 minutes (exactly every 3 minutes if there are six 6s). Plus the X84/X85 and any student shuttles & peak extras.
Service 1 won't become a through service again until the Infirmary Street work is finished - they're still building the exit on to East Parade and the entrance from City Square. Headrow is looking a bit more finished but whether both will be completed in time for the October service changes is another matter.

Management from First head office have been speaking to a Beeston based pressure group called 'Save Our Number 1 Bus Service', which initially campaigned via the 'Save Our Beeston, Cottingley and Holbeck' Facebook group before branching off to be a group by itself. The spokesperson from First has said that this will start from early October and will only run Beeston to Lawnswood Roundabout to ensure reliability, with a full commitment of up to 8 buses an hour. Believe it or not, that group does have some right clout, they seem very well organized and they even managed to get a First manager to attend meetings.

You’d think they’d prefer the 10 as it must be much more reliable than the 1 as it doesn’t have to wade it’s way through Headingley traffic

At least the old 1 served Albion Street which is useful for the Post Office as the one in Beeston on Old Lane is quite a walk for some, and useful for Morrisons as let's face it, changing at Beeston Hill for the hourly 86 isn't right nice. The old 1 was also useful for Lawnswood School, many parents from Beeston Village send their kids there as it is a significantly better school than ones in the South Leeds area.

Just been confirmed by Alex Hornby on Twitter that Transdev will take over operating the 784 service from October 4th, 2020 So that's pretty much confirmed that the X84 will not return to Skipton for the foreseeable. I can imagine new route branding and possibly even Sunday services.

New service 85 surely would be better terminating in Otley? Where will this run also? Through holt park or Otley road? And half hourly or hourly? The big issue will be the timetable. Would an extension to Otley require another bus? With 4bph already to Otley and two other bus operators on Pool to Otley, do First see much benefit Hmm. I assume the 1 will serve the station or there will be no station to university services. It would be disappointing if First routed the 1 through roadworks outside the Corn Exchange instead of up Infirmary Street whose layout changes assist the progress of this service.
