I recently looked up the timetable for service 205 Dewsbury to Pudsey, and checked to see if it was changing at the end of August as I was surprised to see it scaled back as much as it has been. Until around 5 or so years ago, it did have a healthy early til late hourly service but over recent years, it's seen it's evening and Sunday service axed. I was really surprised to see it now operated daytime only with no peak service, and I'm guessing that this is how it will be from now on. It got me thinking, how many other routes out there are a shadow of their former selves? E.g. is there a service that has seen it's high frequency shrunk from say every 10 mins to hourly for example, or in the case of the 205, seen it's all day service scaled back to off peak daytime?

I was doing some research last night, looking back through all the Metro service changes and consultations, back in 2014 all evening and Sunday journeys on the 205 were threatened with withdrawal, however during the consultation several users objected to certain journeys getting cut between Pudsey and Morley so these were kept on a use it or lose it basis for 1 year. Two towns just a fairly short distance apart, yet with a poor bus service and no doubt many car users between them both. The fact that for many years it had a full service all day, and until recently had a peak time service, tells it all.

One Saturday in 2017 I rode what was then the final journey from Pudsey to Dewsbury. I noticed that the reductions about a year later meant that my journey would no longer have been possible then.

This might be a Covid timetable, the 205 last had a revision at the February service changes, and it still had the peak time journeys then

I think the 278 Halifax - Wakefield is quite a shocking demise for a once half hourly core service. 7 days a week, early till late.
Then went hourly.
Cut back to Dewsbury.
Then Yorkshire Tiger took over as X78 to Brighouse Mon - Sat with 262 diverted to Brighouse to provide some connectivity to Mirfield and change again for Dewsbury and change again for Wakefield... as if that's going to appeal.
Needless to say X78 no longer runs.

There is no longer a direct service from Dewsbury to Halifax. The 278 has gone, along with the 279. Wish we still had the 2 (Ossett-Keighley, run by YWD) and 3 (Wakefield-Cullingworth with West Riding).
Arriva has systematically withdrawn services left, right and centre since that name started. I have no faith in that company for the betterment of the public. My local stop ha a ten minute frequency to Batley, Birstall, Cleckheaton, Halifax, Leeds, Morley and Wakefield In one direction and in the other to Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Rsvensthorpe and Thornhill. Now we have a 15/45 split one way roughly every thirty minutes the other, but can only get to Batley, Morley or Wakefield or to Dewsbury.

Many in the City of Bradford.
The first trolleybus route in 1911 ran from Laisterdyke to Dudley Hill, later extended Bolton Junction to Bankfoot as route 34. The first motorbus route ran Little Horton to Lister Park, later extended Bankfoot to Bolton Junction. These were eventually absorbed/organized into the City Circle route 50. The above eventually became the 601/602 but these don't exist anymore.
The Thornton (607) still has a frequent daytime service, but now finishes at a rather early 21:35.
Buttershaw/Woodside (was 12/14, now 614/613) down to hourly on each route.
West Bowling (BCT route 88, now 671) is now down to an hourly service all day.
Shipley - Bradford v. Bolton Woods (WYRCC 66/66A, now TLC 656 daytime, 675/677 e/Su) now has an hourly service via Owlet Road/ Festival Avenue. However (Crag Road) services 629 and 676 cover parts of the route.
Keighley to Bradford via Denholme (WYRCC 57, now Blazefield 67) traditionally had an hourly service as present, but evening provision drops down to a pathetic two-hour gap between buses, and ending at 21:00, despite many new houses in Denholme.
