I wonder on this new app when tracking the buses we get to see the reg plates and fleet numbers and let people know what type of bus it is

Just downloaded the new app, looks really good, very impressed with it. Downloaded from where ? It’s not on the App Store - also would have thought it’s just an update , rather than have to download a new app?

It’s on Apple App Store now I’ve just downloaded it. Search Arriva bus app and scroll to the bottom.

I don't know about the app, but the website is absolutely futtocking useless, it's even worse than the old one, and that's quite a challenge given that every successive version of their website they have produced has managed the same trick. It's horrendous to use – the only timetables you can get are PDFs that show every single stop on the route, and if you look for timetables then it gives you an unfiltered and unfilterable list of every timetable across the country in alphabetical order ... so it goes 1, 10, 100, 101 .. 109, 11, 110 etc (except of course there are plenty of duplicate numbers), so if you're looking for something beginning with a 4 then by the time you've found the timetable you've missed the bus. And it's inaccurate. It is blissfully unaware of the major changes that are taking place this weekend, and the journey planner will happily have me catching the 403 from Leeds to Selby into September even though the route will not exist then. The forthcoming timetables for Selby and Leeds don't appear to be in there at all, with only a week to go until they start running. What a waste of bytes.

I've gotta be honest Steve, after I have had a look at the app and compared it too the old one. I said it was lovely yesterday but having spent more time on the app, the new one is horrendous, I find it harder to track a bus on the new app than the old one when I click on a bus it gives me the list of stops, compared to the old one if you clicked on a bus it would tell you where it was and how late or early or how time it was. The old was simple and easy to use, I feel the new one is a bit more complicated. I can see your point about the timetables on the website, once it's asked you your location surely it should only bring you the timetables for Yorkshire.

One thing First get right, and Arriva never have, is having near enough separate websites for each operation. In real life nobody wants to see a global picture, so there should be a simple filter on the front page and from that point on everything should be local.

Those timetables are seriously messed up, the one for 163/6 begins at around 8pm and after some scrolling it jumps back to 5am. And seriously do they need to put every stop? Theyd be better off just copying the metro timetables and hosting them on the arriva site

Also according to the website, the 187 goes from Altofts to Pontefract, no mention of Wakefield even though on the timetable it starts from Wakefield. Also noticed on the 168 timetable it is easily confusing for people to read and see the difference between the old and new timetable

I bet it's been implemented by one person in IT, working from home, to an impossible deadline, and with all wrong tools lol.

Just about everywhere you look, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums, etc. the new website and app are getting a real battering, can't say I've seen one positive comment yet.
Add this to the position in North Wales where buses are still on lockdown timetables, which is not completely Arriva's fault but they do appear to be dragging their feet restoring services since the announcement of additional government subsidy a couple of weeks ago.
Tiger seems to be staggering along towards it's inevitable doom.
There's just not much love for the company around in 2020
I think the question has to be asked, with First making a real effort throughout most of their UK operations, if not particularly so in West Yorkshire, are Arriva becoming the new Worst Bus!

Wales stayed on the 'essential travel only' message much longer than England, they only changed that message last week I've been watching the position in Wales carefully for the last 6 weeks or so as I was due to holiday there shortly. They opened for holiday cottages, caravans etc. weeks ago now, There are lots of very unhappy local folk who can't get to work as the few buses which are operating are full meaning essential workers are having trouble getting to and from work. Pensioners complaining that they are unable to attend hospital appointments. People also complaining that some drivers are allowing more passengers on board than should be allowed. You can't blame the drivers though as they are in the unenviable position of overloading or leaving folk behind for an hour. Up until just over two weeks ago Arriva were correctly blaming the Welsh government as no funding was in place. This changed two weeks ago with an additional funding package announced. Since then Arriva have been promising service increases by the end of this month. It's the 28th now with nothing announced yet. Normally frequent services such as Llandudno to Bangor and Rhyl are still on an hourly frequency while all shops are open and tourism on a large scale has returned.

As if by magic a tweet appeared today confirming service updates for Wales from this Sunday. Good luck finding a PDF timetable on the website, and gone is the handy summary of service frequencies which was on the old website. Some, not all, of the new timetables are at least on the journey planner.

I have seen how to find the local maps on the Arriva website. If we look up a town, it lists some key routes in the town then the option of downloading the map. I'm not sure if this works for every town tho.

I have seen how to find the local maps on the Arriva website. If we look up a town, it lists some key routes in the town then the option of downloading the map. I'm not sure if this works for every town tho. There are only maps for certain towns or areas. Within Yorkshire, there are maps for Castleford & Pontefract, Huddersfield, Leeds, North Kirklees (covering Batley, Dewsbury, Heckmondwike – also linked from Bradford even though it is off the map), Selby and Wakefield. There are no maps for Doncaster, Goole, Halifax – these towns don't even get a list of common routes – or York. Frustratingly, doing that gives a selection of routes for that town but doesn't always list all of them and then it doesn't seem to be possible to get a full list of routes serving the town (either that or it's where they have stuffed up the database and so it doesn't know about the other routes serving the town at all). Not that it matters, because they are still showing the old routes that stopped running a week ago (and nor have the maps been updated) and where there are links to timetables, they either give a 404 error or a malformed page without a timetable on. But Yorkshire fares better than the North East for maps ... most towns there just get a generic "North East" map that shows the ticket zone boundaries with straight line routes linking the main towns but no indication of the route numbers ... there are proper maps for "Northumberland" (only the area between Morpeth/Ashington down to just north of Newcastle), Bishop Auckland, Darlington Durham, Middlesbrough & East Cleveland, Newcastle, Stockton-on-Tees and Whitby. Some places have links to maps that they aren't featured on, and others miss links to maps that they are featured on. It is absolutely inexcusable. If management have the faintest clue then there will be several heads rolling from this.
