I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but here goes! Hopefully someone here will know the answer...
I’ve been looking through some old notebooks and found some sketchy details of a journey I made on Saturday 7th February 1981. What I’ve written is as follows:
434 West Riding/Belle Isle 492 09:44 Leeds to John O’Guant
932 West Riding/? 465 10:34 John O’Gaunt to Leeds
I assume 434 was Bristol VR JYG434V, but I can’t find any reference to a vehicle numbered 932. Did I just assume the numerical part of the reg number was the fleet number? In which case would it be Bristol RE UHL932J (fleet number 262). Could this have been on route 465 in 1981? Would that have been a Belle Isle vehicle on that route too? Did these run from/to the Bus Station in Leeds? Would I have had to walk up to the Bus Station from the railway station to get on the 434?
Incidentally I noted ex Leeds PD3s LAK301/305/312G “in Rothwell”. Any idea where these were stored as I don’t believe I would have got as far as Rothwell if I'd got off at John O’Gaunt?

Can't really help you with the West Riding question. But, the LAK PD3's were actually ex Bradford.

The 465 route was a joint service with Yorkshire Traction Barnsley depot so 932 would have been YT HWJ 932W a VRT new January 1981. The ex Bradford PD3As were probably at the site of Central Motor Auctions who disposed of many WYPTE vehicles at that time.

932 would be a Yorkshire Traction VRT (Leyland engined?) as they worked 50% of the 465 originally a T. Burrows and Sons route. Yorkshire Traction bought Burrows and it became the 99, later combined with West Ridings 90 to become 65 and 465 when routes throughout West Yorkshire were renumbered by the PTE.
Might the ex Bradford Leylands have been at Central Motor Auctions, John O'Gaunts?

Brilliant, thanks for the information! I lived in Manchester at the time, so Yorkshire was a bit of a mystery to me. Where exactly was motor auction yard?

Brilliant, thanks for the information! I lived in Manchester at the time, so Yorkshire was a bit of a mystery to me. Where exactly was motor auction yard? It still there on the A639 at John O’Gaunts but doesn’t deal in commercials now, only cars and vans (Mannheim auctions). The ex Bradford PD3’s will have been there for auction before going on their way to Barnsley no doubt :-(
