Quote from article "Vivarail will be building 3rd rail trains to make best use of Island Line's electrified track".
Vivarail are not building anything. They are simply converting 40-year old trains.
Quote from Vivarail's Wikipedia entry "Vivarail is an English rolling stock manufacturer" The term "manufacture" relates to creating something from nothing just as Hitachi and Bombardier build trains from scratch. What Vivarail do is to convert and refurbish an existing product which is a totally different thing.

Not wishing to argue but there is not much 40 year old stock in these units. Only the body I think. Doors are new and the driving cabs I believe are replaced totally as the old front ends did not meet current standards for impact etc. With knowing exact figures I would hazard a guess that more than 85% of the unit is new. I stand to be corrected.

As far as I am aware only the main body shells and the bogies are retained, most of it is rebuilt to meet national rail standards. A lot of them was upgraded during their refurbishment in the early 2000s too to extend their operating life.
