About time, too! This is the eternal bottleneck on the route and should have been upgraded years ago.
It will also raise the interesting question of the stopping services (Huddersfield to Leeds), as they will ideally need to be electrics, too, once this is complete.

Of course when you say ‘being spent’, you actually mean ‘proposed to be spent’ and in reality it’ll be about 2022 before any works start.
The Transpennine route improvements have been off and on so many times I’ll believe it when I see it.

Huddersfield Station
Proposals include adjusting the layout of the platforms to provide an additional through platform, replacing part of the roof, extending the current subway, and connecting the new platform via a new pedestrian bridge.

Deighton Station
Network Rail asked passengers and local residents for their views about rebuilding the station 400 metres to the west of its current position. The current preference is for it to be left where it is but both options require significant work to Whitacre Street Bridge to realign the track and install overhead wires for electrification.

Mirfield Station
This busy station is facing a major facelift and reconstruction to allow four tracks to pass through. Step-free access to the platform will be created for the first time. Rail chiefs say they will retain the existing station car park, relocate three blue badge parking spaces to a more accessible location nearer the station entrance, and build a new footbridge connecting to the island platform.

Ravensthorpe Station
The plan is to move the station 300m nearer to Mirfield on the other side of Calder Road. In addition to the current Leeds-bound services, this move will facilitate the future opportunity for stopping services to/from Wakefield Kirkgate to call at Ravensthorpe should the train operator wish to. The station would also benefit from improved facilities including a station forecourt with step free access and three blue badge parking spaces.

I'm very surprised Ravensthorpe station was given the go-ahead in the first place, Ravensthorpe being close enough to both Mirfield and Dewsbury for rail users, that and the fact it's in an isolated location quite a way away from much of Ravensthorpe. The only people who benefit are those who live near it, or work on the Industrial Estate next to it.
Mirfield station does need a big sorting out, it's not very user friendly if you don't know which platform you need for a start. Merging both Mirfield and Ravensthorpe on one new site somewhere between both wouldn't be a bad idea, although finding that site may be difficult, given access issues for example.

At least at the moment Mirfield station is relatively handy for Mirfield and Ravensthorpe station for Ravensthorpe, albeit neither is exactly ideal. But surely if you tried to merge them somewhere between it would be absolutely useless for both places?

Shouldn't be an issue provided the car park is big enough as both places are within easy reach of each other.

The idea behind stations especially in urban areas is for them to be within easy walking distance of where people want to travel to/from so that they don't need to use a car to get to the station.

Indeed. If most travellers need a car to get to the station, you really do need some seriously big car parks.
