I used to live in Blackpool, and I used them all the time. They've had a lot of investment in their buses and the trams in the last few years and it's the end of centros and the eclipses in Blackpool this week, as they are introducing, the enviro 200's on route 6 on Sunday. Unsuitable imo. But the centros and eclipses are the first buses Blackpool got after the metro era of Blackpool. What are your thoughts on Blackpool Transport?

You are aware that the E200s for the 6 are the full length examples, not midi’s like the ones on the 3 & 4.

"What are your thoughts on Blackpool Transport? They could do with having someone who could spell and use apostrophes correctly write on their website.

Tongue in cheek Deerfold, but surely, it's, "They could do with having somebody who can spell, and correctly use apostrophes, on their website." On what I think of Blackpool Transport. Whilst agreeing with the money spent on the tramway upgrade, which was vital to the retention of the system. I am amazed that the good citizens of Blackpool have said absolutely zilch over the councillors of a 'skint' council, sanctioning the millions of pounds spent on the local 'arms length' bus company. I certainly don't recall this in any parties manifestos or policies. Personally, in this day and age of austerity, where councils have had to prune local budgets beyond the bone in a lot of cases, I find it incredible that everybody has just sat back and let it pass. Funnily enough, there are quite a few people in the town who feel that the Talbot Road tram extension is a bit of a 'fleet of fancy'. By the way, that is going to open at the earliest next year, and currently the tracks stop at the entrance to Wilkos which does look quite amusing.

Yes I am aware of that, but they should have got more enviro 400's not 200's because I've used the 6 a lot of times and it's quite busy.

I don't see the point of extending it to north station. People with luggage coming off the train will want to use a taxi and not take a tram.

Due to the new E200MMC's arriving and entering service, the ex-Anglian B7RLE's are now withdrawn and up for sale.

As are the last couple of Tridents (ex IOM). One dennis trident got withdrawn as well I believe. 302. 301 got withdrawn to become a static promotional bus along ex blackpool 340, the ones that used to have the double door, when in London.

Centros 527 is to become a trainer apparently and to be renumbered 977. Believe 978 could become a trainer and replace 973 or 974 which are tridents

I believe they had a Delta or two as a trainer at one stage. Also had a East Lancs Mylenium bodied Daf in a Green and Cream training livery along with deltas.

I'm sure iv'e seen somewhere (can't remember where) that BT are to sell E400 City's 403-410 to Vision Bus in Bolton, if so that would be the entire first 16 plate batch gone, given 401/2 were sold to Warrington's own Buses a while back. So that'll be 10 decker's gone. Service cutbacks or new decker's in the offing?

It seems unbelievable; as in some parts of the country, 5 year old buses would almost still be seen as new. Whether this has changed with covid, I'm not sure. They were successful, like other authorities in being awarded ZEBRA funding for 115 new buses; so there may be orders in the pipeline. www.blackpooltransport.com/zero-emission-bus-regional-areas-zebra-scheme

Thanks WYBS, Further research has shown BT are intending to replace their entire fleet of E200/400's with like for like electric versions of these vehicles with the ZEBRA funding. Iv'e seen before that BT intended to operate a fleet with no vehicle more than 5yrs old, However there's no mention anywhere regarding the Citaro's they are already 7yrs old.

Testing is due to start next week on the Talbot Road tramway extension between the Promenade and the new Blackpool North tram stop.
From Tuesday 23 April, trams will be live on the tracks at various times of day while testing is carried out. The majority of testing will be Monday to Friday. However, some weekend testing may also be required.
Road users and pedestrians are reminded to be cautious and ensure all traffic and parking restrictions are followed.
More details on the new tramway extension opening will be announced soon!
