the 67/68 which has been half hourly since 2005 is to be cut to an hourly service from Monday the 20th running only as the 67, looking at Cullingworth for example where its early bus services were very poor but quickly expanded taking in such routes as the Keighley to Wakefield service but in the very comprehensive 1976 WYPTE re-numbering scheme, service number 2 then only ran from Keighley to Huddersfield and from 2000 Keighley to Halifax (re-numbered 502 in circa 1982) before in 2005 becoming a Sundays only service and in 2015 being withdrawn altogether although a Saturday X22 service now operates it avoids Cullingworth. then on to Bradford from the 1976 re-numbering scheme 697 Keighley to Bradford and the 699 Oakworth to Bradford operated and the 696 later joined them becoming the primary route (the 697 only running evenings and sundays) the 699 was withdrawn in February 2002 and replaced with a two hourly 698 ( from Oxenhope) but by the end of 2002 this was cut to one bus a day and coincidentally will run for the last time today albeit as the 69, the withdrawal of the 699 meant that from 2002 to 2005 Cullingworth had only an hourly service to Bradford until the current arrangement 696/697 and since 2017 67/68 on an alternate basis to be changed again tommorrow was introduced. sorry for the rambling, but i was observing the decline in bus services generally.

I don't think West Riding's service 3 ever ran Keighley to Wakefield, as far as I recall it was actually Cullingworth to Wakefield, although Cullingworth always seemed a strange place to terminate. As well as the West Yorkshire RCC service (57 then in the late 60s) to Bradford every hour (more frequent between Denholme and Bradford) there was the YWD 2 Keighley-Halifax-Ossett hourly and the Hebble 2 Halifax-Bingley which was also hourly although in the mornings it only ran Cullingworth-Bingley. But your general point is right, about the decline in services. But if few people want to travel on certain routes or at certain times then the services are not going to continue, sadly.

The 2 was Ossett-Keighley, run by YWD and the 3 by West Riding, Wakefield to Cullingworth. I liked to ride these routes (from and to Dewsbury) as a boy on summer Saturdays if I got the chance.
Later, Yorkshire Traction for a time, ran the 278 from Dewsbury to Queensbury.

I cannot think for the life of me but why on earth has Denholme and Cullingworth had their services cut in half? I do not live in those areas, but most of the time when I have seen the 67 and 68 on Thornton Road there always appears to be a healthy amount of passengers on board. Let's take our enthusiast head off for a minute. Firstly, how do Transdev get away with announcing on their site that "service improvements" are taking place? I seem to recall a couple of years ago laughing at the so called "improvements" on the 66. The "improvements" consisted of a reduction in services and smaller buses!! Most of the time when I have travelled on the 67 between Thornton and Bradford the buses are tired and shabby. I have a soft spot for the B10s which operate most of the services but, like I say, I have my enthusiasts hat off. Denholme and Cullingworth are sizeable settlements which deserve a much much better service, whether it be to Bradford,Keighley,or dare I say it,Halifax. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that The Keighley Bus Company is a somewhat self congratulating bus company who treat their loyal customers with contempt. Rant over!!
