First have been awarded funding by the government to introduce 9 electric buses into Leeds. These are to operate on service 5 between Halton Moor and City Centre from Hunslet depot, clearly 5’s being reallocated from Bramley.

Huddersfield as usual will be given some old tat that Leeds no longer want. They keep banging on about improved services in Huddersfield yet being given old cast off buses doesn’t give that impression.

Halifax & Huddersfield, even Bradford for that matter don't make enough money to warrant serious investment. Until that changes, you can enjoy "cast offs".

Its also factually inaccurate, first there was the batch of new B7RLES's, then the batch of new Streetlites not to mention the B9TL Gemini which came from Manchester. If you want to see a lack of investment, look at First in Manchester.

First have pretty good maintenance and it’s rare to see a broken down vehicle. Look at Tiger, they are a low profit company and they arent exactly doing particularly bad are they? Yes they have lost alot of services due to cuts but they are getting 3 more by the end of the month. They have a recently refurbished 2001 optare solo and its very smooth and comfortable and people would easily mistake the age of the bus because it doesnt look and feel half bad. Almost the same situation with first, repainting 324**’s to make them look fresh. Its just the inside looking a bit grim.

I'd take cast of B7RLE's and B9TLs any day of the week in Halifax. Once they arrive, Halifax do well at refreshing them externally and get them running well too.

Not enough correlation to be literally the entire topic.
I know in 2019 every piece of news has to be spun negatively and cause outrage but that doesn’t have to spread here.

Personally though, Leeds getting electric buses is good news for Leeds and good news for other areas with quality cascades. Win win in my opinion

Junk that has already been running in Leeds for the best part of 15 years? Little or no better than what we already have!

Back on track, congratulations to Leeds on getting your glorified milk floats, give me a diesel engined cast-off anyday!.

Already mentioned here: Bramley have YG18CVS on loan, to be used to shadow the 5 route out of service. It’s a Yugong Electric Bus that’s come from Arriva apparently ... and here: YG18CVS (red London Yutong demonstrator) on Headrow turning down Park Row

I understand that one delay in getting the Yutong electric buses into service concerns the driver’s seat. First Leeds (at least) drivers are required to wear seat belts where fitted (even though there is no requirement in law for them to do), but the Yutongs arrived without seatbelt fixings to their ergonomically designed quality drivers’ seats, so the powers that be have had those removed for some basic quality seats with seat belts fitted.
