Rumour has it that the bi 19xxs will be going to hecky & more cadets from the north east will be replacing them short term with the 17xx hybrids been used on the 110 whilst bi wait on new deckers for the 110. Yes the rumour is they are going onto the 268s to replace the original e400s Sent from my SM-G960F using proboards The current 19**'s on the 110, will move to Hecky later this year, and repainted into current livery, and put onto 268. The original 1900-13 268 branded E400's will then also be repainted in current livery and used on Dewsbury Road services (200/201/201A), releasing the Lowlanders, elsewhere.

I assumed that the Wright Eclipse bodies Volvos would be the mainstay of the 200/201. E400s all day will provide a nice capacity increase.

Dewsbury being treated like poor relations again, surely the 202/3 is just as popular as the 110, yet its Wakefield and Castleford that get everything !

Dewsbury got the 15 plate e400s the same time as Belle Isle got there's. In theory let alone technically Dewsbury are going to need newer motors on the 202/203 and Heckmondwike will need to for 200/201/201a for the Leeds Clean Air Zone starts. Belle Isle & Castleford are also going to need them for the 117/167/168/217/410/444/446/481 as well unless the remaining Geminis, Commanders, Pulsars,Tempos,e200, Olympuses & Lowlanders and Hecky's 58 plate e400s and the eclipses are all getting Air Emission convertions dons and the same also applies for Selby too

So i'd say excluding Selby the other 4 sites have a mixed bag of motors that are well worn

Hardly anything at Arriva Yorkshire can be described as old tat, they’ve got the newest fleet in West Yorkshire, newer than First or Transdev and their fleet age is comparable with Bus industry leaders like Trent Barton, Lothian, Reading Buses or Nottingham City Transport.
Castleford only has loads of new buses because they were the recipient of new buses last year, go back two years and Dewsbury were in front of Castleford, head forward a few years and they probably will be again.

If any depot got cast off's it was mostly Heckmondwike. Heckmondwike got the Dennis Lance's (801-18), new in 1993, I've not included Lance's 819-30, cos they were originally new, to Castleford. Jan 2001 (X687-9/91-6YUG, Volvo Presidents) new for 268, then August 2002 (718-23 Optare Spectra) new for X33. Heckmondwike's next batch of new buses were 1100-12 (08 for 254/255) & 1900-13 (58 for 268) in 2008, then came in Feb 2012 1536-48 (ok 1548, arrived March 2012), and then last year, they got the new E400's, 6 years after their last new ones. New deliveries should, in my opinion, be shared equally.

Surely when allocating new vehicles it’s not a “competition” between depots. I expect they will consider several factors such as which services can be grown by benefits of newer vehicles etc. They also used to try and group vehicles of a particular type at one depot in order to make it easier for spare parts to stored / at hand. I think we see less of this now though. In particular, the Lowlanders appear everywhere! The late 90s “all Lances to Heckmondwike, all Lynxes to Castleford” was an example of the standardisation.
As a Leeds resident I’m served by services operated by all 5 Arriva depots and rarely disappointed with the quality/cleanliness of the vehicles. They generally do turn them out well, particularly the interiors, where the age of the bus is irrelevant, given that Arriva are good at doing the refurbs (evident now with the 1100s).

We are the poor relations, haven’t had any new buses since 2013 and we get everyone else’s cast offs. We even get 10 year old refurb Sapphire buses.
