Hello all! I'm Zubin (aka DW1). I'm 18, originally from Croydon, South London but I have just moved to Huddersfield to study Transport and Logistics Management at the University. I have been a Transport Enthusiast from a very young age, and the dream for me is to work in a senior position in either a bus or rail company (hence why I've moved away from London to study at University). I am also a member of various other forums for London Buses, so you may have seen me around, however, London and West Yorkshire are completely different areas, so I was hoping to find a similar forum for West Yorkshire...and low and behold I found this forum! So here I am. Another reason I've signed up to this forum is because I want to learn more about the whole bus system in West Yorkshire during my time living here and how it works, especially in comparison to London. Apologies in advance if I ask a lot of questions to start off with, but if you don't ask questions, you don't learn anything! The background behind my forum name is simply named after the fleet code carried by the first DAF DB250/Wright Pulsar Gemini built, which I used to travel on quite a lot while it was with Arriva London. Unfortunately, that particular bus now operates in Preston, but as I understand, there are four ex London DB250's with Yorkshire Tiger, so hopefully while I'm up here I'll be able to ride them. Other than the DB250 Gemini's and ALX400's, my favourite bus types are anything built by Alexander Dennis or Wright. The Scania OmniCity is also another favourite of mine. So that's my introduction, look forward to seeing you all around the forum!

West Yorkshire is a great place to bash around if you like your long, scenic bus routes with a bit of thrash here and there. Get yourself on the 308, 232 (especially a decker), 900, 184, 592, 537 and B3 (Keighley) to start off with. Huddersfield is good as you are in easy range of Manchester, and Leeds, Halifax, Holmfirth, Bradford etc... Great routes in and around Leeds aswell; 36, Coastliner, X84... Most buses around here are Volvo/ Wrights with a few ADLs and other anomalies thrown in here and there. Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum. I’m sure you will become settled in and go for an explore around West Yorkshire soon enough.
If you’re after Alexander Dennis bodied vehicles - First Leeds & Arriva Yorkshire have a a number of E400/E400MMCs (Arriva also have E200s) although the majority of these in Yorkshire are across the border in Sourh Yorkshire with Stagecoach. They have numerous E400/E40H and E400MMCs.
A good call could be the X10 from Leeds to Barnsley which connects with the newly extended X17 from Barnsley to Chesterfield via Meadowhall and Sheffield. Brand new 68 plate E400MMCs have just been introduced onto this route this week (Stagecoach Gold).
Enjoy your time here and I’m sure you’ll pick up the local route networks of the various towns soon!

Welcome to this thread DW1 / Zubin!
I noticed you had signed up when you spotted my Croydon itin from 2014 and gave it your thumbs-up.
Admittedly these days I usually only report trips on the local forum in question.
West Yorkshire is my favourite area for transport where I have never lived. So much so that when in Leeds I as good as forget that it is not technically home territory! It is an easy daytrip though. Having plenty of rural scenery between towns and cities in West Yorkshire makes it stand out from some other PTE areas.
First Leeds and Arriva Yorkshire are among my favourites of their subsidiaries. Transdev provide quality operations into Leeds too. I incidentally reckon you will enjoy experiencing the contrast with London as different companies inevitably have different liveries being outside London.
