Wow, I can't believe it. I sent them a 'very strong worded' email explaining that no one had done any research when creating the new timetable, and they have actually looked it up and changed the timetable and route. Well done First. Sure there's more to the change than that. If there is more to it, then it's a strange coincidence that they've changed precisely what I told them was wrong with the timetable. Explaining that they need to keep the bus frequency through Rodley (they've made it an exact 15 minute freqeuncy now) and extended journeys to meet up with the 671 so people can connect. I told them that whoever wrote the first timetable clearly did no research into the route, and it seems that they have gone back at the last minute and actually looked it up.

Despite me having told them about it several times, the new 62 timetable on the keighleybus website still does not contain the 884 from Ilkley to Keighley (but does contain it in the opposite direction).

Likewise the new timetable for the 24 shows buses taking 7 minutes to get from Harrogate to Ripon Road Hydro, except the 1600 and 1730 that can somehow do exactly the same route in just 3 minutes despite rush-hour traffic. I queried that with them several weeks ago and never even had the courtesy of a reply.

Probably more councillor pressure to be honest, but good that First act on feedback. Again to say no research went in to the first timetable is a statement rather than fact as we have no evidence to verify that.

None of the buses will be able to display Thorpe Edge at Bramley as they only have 35 Greengates and Leeds on - what a shambles!

Well personally I would have thought that if you were chopping a route in half then the two constituent ends meeting or at least overlapping to still facilitate through journeys might not have been a bad idea, or am I simply being hopeful that sense may have prevailed. I would have thought some simple analysis of the ticket data via their sparkly new ticketer machines could have provided enough info!

SHAMBLES..My word..How do you know they haven't been updated over the weekend or last night? Suppose it's all relative, if this is the sum total of life's problems to some people suppose it is a big deal. To quote a one famous advert "Calm down dear, it's only a bus"..

Again it's easy to speculate none of us know what goes on to influence these decisions. It's a shame the forum is so rude to insiders who used to come on and engage, we might have got an insight.

Can't help thinking the last minute extension of the 35 is ill thought out. It would have been better to leave the 35 as it was and route the new 671 to the Redcar Road turning circle via Orchard Grove as it was with the 670. Connectivity for Bolton Junction, Eccleshill and Idle residents would have been better if the timings were right.

Either way, one service is going to have to negotiate the traffic lights on Harrogate Road which (particularly when coming downhill to turn right to head towards Calverley) can add a good few minutes onto the journey. Maybe there's more leeway on the 35 for this than on the 671?

35 observations: All journeys are tending to run late as drivers are struggling to do the full run in the time given. Hopefully a timetable change will sort this out next Service change date.
