Just seen that Honley depot is closing, anyone know if all is transferring to Waterloo?? Surely that depot can’t take anymore buses!

Honey depot does not appear to be in an ideal location. Surrounded by houses and the railway line. Whilst it is possible for the smaller vehicles to turn inside the yard I am not sure about the larger vehicles, I think they have to reverse in but I am open to correction. Perhaps a larger area has been found.

It's all going down to Waterloo. But the closure is forcing drivers to leave due to changes in their employment terms and conditions.

Honley depot was right when it was the base for K-Line a small independent.
It always seemed a bit ramshackle as a depot as part of a major multi national operator, I’m surprised they’ve kept it this long.

Waterloo does always have a good half dozen withdrawn buses parked up so that would save space.
Looking on Google Maps, there are about 35 buses parked in the depot with lots of space to spare, so I expect both allocations would fit.
The 343 could always move to Elland as well.

Depending on space the 360 could also be run by Elland (less dead running between Elland & Brackenhall than it is currently from Honley) Then new service 233 looks to use 5 buses compared to the current services 81/82 that uses around 7 Buses so them 2 buses saved can over the 324 without needing any extra space. If they did scrap the 262 that saves another 3 buses (to use on 319?) so they would need to find space for around 8 more vehicles (4 for 301,2 for Huddersfield free bus,1 for Dewsbury free bus & 1 for 933) Again depending on space if they do keep 262 (I believe its just a rumor/gossip at the moment its going) the full runs into Brighouse could also move to Elland Depot,so that would at least save 2 vehicles at Waterloo

It’s not even rumour/gossip is it? Just one person saying they’ve never seen anyone on it at the Brighouse end some how meaning the entire service including the half hourly Huddersfield to Kirkheaton bit is being withdrawn.

I think Elland, all ready do one or two boards on the 343 lately. Also, Tiger got planning permission for Waterloo.

Waterloo depot has always been crowded, but during the 70's/80's NBC heyday Tracky had far more buses allocated there than since de-reg. Could be wrong but i think Stagecoach had the fewest buses there, only when Centrebus then subsequently Tiger take over, did the numbers bulk up again, although still fewer than Tracky. In recent years though it would appear some space needs to be maintained for the daily visit of the breakdown truck!

With what buses, have some transferred over? I know I've seen at least one of the old Huddersfield Free Town Buses, running on the 343, with a driver I've not seen before.

The depot looked closed yesterday afternoon, with some buses still inside I caught the flying tiger yesterday and it was operated by a YT liveried (KIG XXXX reg), fresh from the paint shop, so this has moved from Honley, also inside they were advertising for drivers and Honley depot was blocked out on the poster .

Loads of buses are parked in the Honley depot, presumably all the withdrawn stock, including some double decks and old Flying Tiger Omnicities.
