This was a good event over all, but I didn't think it was right charging £5 for the programme then another £3 to get in the museum - even though it said on the website buying the timetable booklet included the admission - I heard a number of people complaining and pointing this out - the man on the gate just said he'd been told to charge £3. Then when you got in the museum all the trade stands were across the front of the parked vehicles so you couldn't get any decent photos (. I would usually put in the donation tubs after rides on the vehicles, but didn't today having already paid £8. Not a good way to encourage people to go again. The Transdev bit was good with a few different vehicles on display both old & new. West Yorkshire SMA5 looked smart. No £3 additional admission charge there (!!).

Guy on gate told me the £3 was a suggested donation to the museam and the book was a £5 cover price, this was at noon so I wonder if they realised the £3 admission charge was wrong and back tracked by calling it a suggested donation? Event overall good but the museum floor towards the back could have done with concreting or at least had a temporary level walkway, additionally part of the museum had a strong unpleasant smell, I think this part should have been cordoned off to save the museam embarrassment.

I didn't pay anything into the museum, the guys on the gate were chatting with friends/enthusiasts and the bus load of punters just walked straight in. I had thought the £5 would have covered it.
It's more like a working museum than a fully polished public one, most of the back areas are basically workshops, so the rough surroundings can be accepted.
I expect the open days will become an annual event rotating around the Transdev depots as long as Alex Hornby is in charge, based on location and history/character I would put a bet on the next one being at Burnley.

No one tried charging me extra to enter the museum I just waved my programme & walked in & the only person I saw pay anything was buying a programme. An enjoyable day out though providing you wore your earplugs at Transdevs depot

The £5 for the programme went to Sue Ryder which the day was raising money for. The £3 to the museum. I happily paid both.
I was impressed by the number of vehicles Transdev had bussed in for the day (had an inkling when a black 36 went past my house as I was in the back yard an hour or so before we went out).

Anyone go to Keighley yesterday, I thought it was a bit pricey with £3 admission and a further £3 for the programme

They not leant from the last event. £6 is a lot for programme and admission. Dewsbury charge for the programme which includes admission.

I can understand they are trying to raise money, but yes £6 is pricey compared to Dewsbury. The programme isn't very good for £3! The event didn't seem as well organised as the Dewsbury ones, a few people we making comments that they would like to have known the vehicle allocations for the services. The museum was better set up inside than last time, you could take photos much easier this time, the stands didn't obstruct the vehicles. It was an enjoyable day over all.

Went to the event that was supposed to be celebrating 30 years of deregulation today. Not being awful against the organisers as they clearly had been let down but it was a bit of a farce. No timetable for the free buses, got told one set of times which often changed throughout the day, in fact no bus for a lengthy period mid afternoon despite me being told at least a 30 min service would run, few different buses available for use, drivers at times not knowing where the next route should be going, as in a driver outside on the street scheduled for Bingley ready to go only for a relief driver to come out of the museum to do the Bingley run. To be fair this was at the time a big gap in service came about so the relief may have been sent out to plug the gap.
At least a realistic entry price was charged and the museum cafe was very well priced.

I wonder why the organiser would choose today to hold a one-off event when the date clashed with Show Bus, show bus which after last years problems had been held on a site much further North and within reach of any other local enthusiasts and preservationists. I know the date is significant but to deregulation but there was also two other Sundays either side

I'm not sure Show Bus affected things that much as a good crowd still turned out, I think a group or some individuals promised to take along significant stalls and buses but pulled out at short notice.

I'm not sure Show Bus affected things that much as a good crowd still turned out, I think a group or some individuals promised to take along significant stalls and buses but pulled out at short notice. Out of the two I only seriously considered Showbus but after trips to the Buses Festival and the Leicester event including First Leicester's open day I couldn't really be bothered with another four hour round trip, same reason I didn't go to the Potteries event last week. I had a ten minute spell when I thought about travelling the 15 minutes to Keighley but honestly never really considered it. To be honest I think the local scene is a bit saturated with both Keighley and Dewsbury increasing their events in recent years. Both of these museums understandably get many of the same visiting vehicles and I find Dewsbury the better value for money. I do enjoy seeing Keighley's collection but once a year is enough. Today's event is also a bit too close to the Yorkshire Dales running day in Skipton which tends to have a wider variety of buses although I do miss the stalls. I will also probably visit the next Dewsbury event to pick up Christmas presents as the stalls there are usually very good.

I must admit Keighley events do lack stalls, and today's event really lacked them, something like 4 or 5 including the fixed KBMT stall was today's offering. However the choice of bus routes offered today was good and it's a real pity word was not spread well enough about the tour routes. KBM to Haworth, Bingley and much of Keighley including Cliffe Castle and the bypass were 3 of the tours I sampled.

They've missed a right trick now you've reminded us of the actual date of deregulation, they have the evening running day at the end of October, why didn't they make that the 30 year deregulation anniversary date on top of twilight running!

Also operating will be a free service to East Riddlesden Publicity for these seems to be getting worse. I live in Keighley but can't make it at this notice - I've made other plans this week and seen nothing about it anywhere else. The note has been on the website for a little over a month, but even there isn't very prominent.

I went a couple of years ago and was I was somewhat disappointed. Street running was OK but the historic vehicles in the museum were fronted by a continuous wall of stalls and it was impossible to get close to look at the finished and under renovation vehicles.
