Hi,
Decided to create the post for 2014.
Okay, from a ex- York Employee, Transdev York is to be split soon apparently, with 844 and 44 operating by Malton Depot. Some others will happen, can anybody shed any light on this?

Transdev Keighley & District Olympian 975 was in Harrogate this evening. It had 'Private Charter' on its display so not sure of its purpose. Maybe a Yorkshire show shuttle but no sign of that on the bus. Cheers Andy

On Friday 11/7, Arriva were running both an Enviro 200 and a Gemini on the 24/26/27 route block in York. Interestingly, the Gemini was heading for "York Racecourse" instead of "South Bank Knavesmire".

Think one early 42 runs onto York Locals, so yes it is likely to be common.

I wouldn't know I only make the odd visit, is it also common practice to see a Solo on the early morning 42 from Selby to York? I don't know, I struggle to get up in time to get the 0730, let alone the one before that! It's quite likely that the 0625 NS from Selby goes on to work the 24/26/27 diagrams (up until September last year, there was a return working 0755 NS, but since Arriva took on the York locals, that bus now starts from Stillingfleet SD and Cawood SH), so it would normally be a Solo. Maybe one day I need to get up ridiculously early to try out a Solo on the country lanes!

I've seen regular EYMS buses running the rail replacement services to Selby several times – both a B9TL and an MCV B7RLE – surprising given that it's mostly coaches used.

It was the morning journey from Stillingfleet to Selby College, never seen a double-decker going over Cawood Bridge, and unfortunately didn't then because it was somewhere around Wistow when I passed it, but I bet it was impressive.

I saw the 'Harrogate Connect' Versa 281 running on the 36 this morning. Surprised? Maybe not as much as when I say it was en route to Elvington...

First York have been running bendies on the 7 (Designer Outlet P&R) a lot recently. Normally they only do that in school holidays when it gets busier ... I wonder if this is the Christmas rush starting early, or a more permanent change. There still seem to be plenty of bendies on the 3 (Askham Bar) and 8 (Grimston Bar), so either they are just spread more evenly or the 2 (Rawcliffe Bar) has seen a reduction in capacity (I don't generally see buses on the 2, so I don't know if it's still using bendies...), which may be tied in with the opening of Poppleton Bar.

I have known when i have been to York and use that park and ride it can be standing load on an eclipse. Would make more sense to use an artic or a decker round the christmas period.

The 415 had a Plaxton President running the route this evening. I assume this is not a regular performer on the route nowadays.

There are as many Presidents on the route as Gemini while 1500-1507 are upgrades to Max spec. There was notice in the Selby inspectors office which had 1501, 1503 and 1506 AWOL earlier in the week. It needed updating since 1506 was back and running in service but no sign of 1507. Not sure if it was confirmed before but 1500 was carrying AY08 MAX plates, the other have appropriate numbers matching the fleet numbers, suppose 1501 could well be AY09, but that might be too logical for Arriva

There are Presidents on the 415 all the bluddy time :-( particularlyat the moment with the Geminis being refurbed. It would be nice to think that when it goes MAX they will be all Geminis, but with it needing 7 vehicles out of 8, even assuming no extras are needed to make up for congestion (which is never going to happen), the chances of it being 100% on any given week are pretty much nil unless they get another one or two in.

Got my first ride of a Solo SR on the 42 tonight (3051). A few observations... - not a hint of rattle, don't know if that's just because the buses are new but it's nice while it lasts
- but awful resonance shaking the bus whenever the engine is idling, not good in town
- the ride seems very firm, so you can feel every bump and cat's eye in the road
- no idea what it's like at full chat because the traffic was light and the driver wasn't pushing it
- the driver was being very cautious on tight corners, but may just be unfamiliarity with the vehicle
- 'talking bus' announcements are less annoying on interurban routes with widely spaced stops than on urban routes, but are less useful, because they never actually tell you where you are! The stop name never tells you what village you are in, rendering them less than helpful for people unfamiliar to the area
(but credit to them for having the 42 programmed in and recorded onto the system)

They are lovely buses to drive (once you are used to the front wheel position), they are very sturdy vehicles with as you say hardly any rattles, they pack plenty of power for hills & grip to the road very well. They have an ecodrive system built into the dashboard that monitors acceleration, braking & cornering so that will probably the reason why he was been careful on corners.
