Just been going through it and noted a number of surprises what you wouldn't see today, as well as some you wouldn't think you'd see today. Here's just a few of them
The 61 and 62 inner city circulars (East End Park circulars) ran every 15 mins each! Look at how poor the timetable is and how cut back/changed the 61 is today!
Halton Moor had a dedicated shopper service to Seacroft along with Seacroft/Cross Gates streets having their own dedicated shopping bus
Goole was linked with Leeds using the 401 (as 401 route Goole to Selby then as the old 402 route to Leeds), and Sherburn/South Milford were served by the 166 from Leeds which ran via Garforth, how cut back Sherburn services are today with only the hourly 402/3
Tadcaster to Castleford and Pontefract via Sherburn services used a different set of numbers from todays 492/3 but ran the same routes more or less like they do today, however the timetable only had a couple of through journeys at peak times from Castleford with a roughly 2 hourly service from Pontefract, during the daytime short workings from Castleford to Ferrybridge linked into the Pontefract to Tadcaster and vice versa workings with through fares, in addition links into the 401 to/from Selby were shown in the timetable as well. It would do transport the world of good for such a connection to happen nowadays between the 402/3 and 490-4
You'd think Dalesbus was a recent idea, back in 1980 a Dalesbus network ran, and more surprisingly one route used the number 800 on a route almost like todays 800, it ran from Leeds via Bradford, Shipley and Guisleley to Ilkley, Grassington, Buckden to Hawes, other routes in the dales connected to/from West Yorkshire's bus and train services at Harrogate/Skipton and ran via various places in Wharfedale/Nidderdale, Monday to Saturday through fares were offered from train services at Skipton onto the 71/2 services to Grassington/Buckden.
Express services ran to various Leeds suburbs at peak times (Garforth, Swarcliffe, Middleton) and surprisingly the Middleton X10 ran every 7/8 minutes, now if only someone at First could think like Metro did back then, one thing irritating passengers into their cars is the ball ache journeys, after all who wants to be stuck in metal looking out at the same endless urban sprawl for half an hour or more each journey up to 7 days a week!

It's also interesting to see timetables like that where there are no increased journey times in the peak.
I've timetables of the X6 from the late 80s/early 90s where all journeys all day took just over an hour Huddersfield to Leeds.
Bear in mind this was a different era, people had less money, less cars and also importantly less varied commutes, people worked locally and didn't travel half way across the region to work, so could catch one bus.
I didn't think Dalesbus was a recent thing, although until the late early 00s? it was always in the hands of Blazefield (and WYRCC before that).
I don't know if your timetable has trains in as well, but the opposite applies there, I think what is now Transpennine Express was only hourly at that point.

Does it have the Leeds/Bradford - Morecambe service in ,service 200 run by K&D & LCT which went via Armley & Stanningley bypass if I remember rightly, seemed strange seeing other operators going that way at the time..

The 200 didn't start until the early 90s and pre 1986, Keighley and District only existed at local level (I believe as West Yorkshire Keighley and District although it could have simply been West Yorkshire with the Keighley and District bit added for a short time after 1986) and in response to westyorkshirebus train query, only a brief summary of each train line had been included at the back on 3 pages with local lines on the first 2 and Intercity/Transpennine on the 3rd. On an interesting note, train lines wern't simply named like todays, they were numbered 1 to 12 with a name of the line added with the the line number. All lines existed as today except the York and Selby lines were 2 separate routes with the York line being named the Minster Line, Goole services had their own line name (the Goole Line) and number with 6 trains a day to/from Goole, and services to Doncaster were called the Three Rivers Line! I'll post all bus and train services in the guide when I have time at a later date so look out for this. Another quirky feature back in 1980 was the closure of some train stations on Sundays such as New Pudsey, I'll include a brief description of each train lines timetable features as well so you have an idea of each lines level of service.
Finally two other things different are that some buses operated from Cookridge Street and Soverign Street! The Soverign Street services were Yorkshire Woollen routes to places such as Morley, Thorpe, Gildersome and Drighlington and the Cookridge Street services were the Otley/Ilkley 780-4 routes amongst some others like the X96 to Tinshill, my second quirk is the different frequencies depending on morning or afternoon operation and day of the week, for example some routes ran 15 minute frequencies on a morning after rush hour, then ran additional journeys on an afternoon for the rest of the day, was this because back then many housewives spent the morning cleaning? The 28 and 30 to Cross Green ran as 30s at peak times via the full Industrial Estate Monday to Friday and 28 at off peak times just to the industrial estate terminus near the old wholesale markets, on Saturdays the 30 ran early morning and lunchtime whilst the 28 did the other journeys meaning a 5 and a half day week existed back then, either that or Saturday morning overtime was well taken.

I don't know if your timetable has trains in as well, but the opposite applies there, I think what is now Transpennine Express was only hourly at that point. I have a 1972 London Midland Region timetable book which I bought from the VCT at Ingrow on my last visit (covers the period when I was born)- the first fast arrival from Manchester into Leeds on a weekday is 0950 (and that ran as a semi-fast between Liverpool and Manchester) with a subsequent frequency of hourly trains with an occasional 70 minute gap and journey times of around 70-75 minutes. I'm guessing that with timings like that we were still in the days of Class 40s and Trans-Pennine DMUs; some of the DMU services through from Hull to Liverpool become locals west of Manchester. One curiosity on the S&C is that the last northbound departure from Leeds (1336 Thames-Clyde Express to Glasgow) arrived into Carlisle nearly two hours before the last southbound (1745).

I'll give you all another snippet of surprise just to keep you all going, blimey this book is turning out to be a great bedtime read lol, Hyde Park, Kirkstall Road, Armley and Old Farnley were linked not via Leeds using the number 49 bus every 12 mins at peak times and every 30 mins other times with evening and Sunday buses too, now you'd be lucky today if some crazy independent tried an hourly service on such a route. Many services surprisingly had 20 minute frequencies during evenings and sundays with some routes combining together over common sections to form 10 minute frequencies! It soon shows you Metro were well ahead of their time.

The 49 Hyde Park to Old Farnley was the forerunner of today's service 5, which of course now turns off at Kirkstall Road heading for the City Centre. Before it's withdrawal the 49 did for a time extend into the city then on to East End Park and Torre Road garage.

Ok here goes, Part 1 of the list of every route in the 1980 Leeds timetable book, ready..... I'm giving myself some extra time to talk myself out of it...... nope no good I've just got to do this!
In the begining there was.... hang on wrong book, lets try this one
1/4 Holt Park(1)/Ireland Wood(4)-Headingley-Leeds-Beeston. The 1 as is now, the 4 via the Raynels, Otley Old Road, Iveson Approach/Drive and Spen Lane then via the 1 route. Both services every 20 mins each during day and after 6pm til finish Mon-Sat, 10 mins each at peaks with some additional peak journeys, and half hourly each on Sundays with combined frequencies.
2 Dewsbury Road-Leeds-Moortown (Chained Bull) via Chapeltown as today but finishing at the Chained Bull. Presume this started somewhere near the Parkwoods on Dewsbury Road. It ran in between number 3s between Leeds and Moortown to offer a combined 10 minute frequency from 9am til 4pm Monday to Friday. On Saturdays it started from Dewsbury Road to combine with the number 3 to offer a 10 minute service from 8am til 6pm. In addition, some short early morning workings ran along parts of the route and during peak times it ran every 15/30 mins from Leeds to Cross Flatts via Parkside Trading Estate am peak time and every 15 mins in the reverse direction pm peak time, no other journeys served Parkside.
3 Moortown (Chained Bull)-Leeds-Middleton (Thorpe Lane). This ran via todays number 2 route and combined as described above with the number 2, during the peak period Monday to Friday it ran every 10 minutes, and every 20 minutes off peak including evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday.
5 and 11 Whinmoor (Middle School)-Seacroft Centre-South Parkway-Gipton Approach-York Road-Leeds-Copley Hill-Tong Road-Ring Road-Swinnow-Pudsey-Troydale(5) and Bradford Road-Woodlands-Calverley(11). This looks to be a combination of parts of todays 11 (most of the Seacroft to Leeds section), 4 (most of the Leeds to Ring Road section) and 62/62A (most of the Ring Road to Troydale/Calverley section. Monday to Friday these services combined to run every 10 minutes at peaks and 15 minutes at off peak daytime between Whinmoor and Pudsey with a half hourly peak and hourly off peak service to Calverley and Troydale. In the evening their was a 20 minute combined frequency Whinmoor to Pudsey and hourly to Calverley/Troydale. Sundays both services ran hourly, every 30 mins combined Whinmoor to Pudsey.
6 Pudsey-Richardshaw Lane-Stanningley-Bramley Town End-Armley Road-Leeds-York Road-Halton Moor. This is a combination of todays X14 Pudsey Centre to Leeds and 5 Leeds to Halton Moor. It ran every 15 minutes Mon to Sat through day with some extra peak journeys and half hourly at all other times. During the evening after 9.47pm, journeys ran as short workings rather than as through services so presuming both Bramley and Torre Road ran this.
7 Hunslet(well Stourton actually as it started at Thwate Gate)-Low Road/Hunslet Road-Leeds-Burley Road-Cardigan Road-Queenswood Drive (described as Becketts Park in timetable). This ran every 15 minutes through the day Monday to Friday (extra peak workings) and half hourly evenings, all day Saturday and Sunday.
9 Colton-Middleton via Ring Road North (via Seacroft Wetherby Road roundabout, Moortown, Lawnswood, Horsforth to Pudsey)and Ring Road South (via Swinnow, Wortley/Old Farnley, White Rose/Arlington roundabout, Beeston Park Ring Road) to Middleton where the shopping centre is. This is more or less a combination of todays number 8 and 9 between those points. The service ran hourly all day including evenings with some additional peak journeys Monday to Friday and half hourly Saturday daytime, hourly Saturday evening and Sundays with the service starting at lunchtime on Sundays or mid afternoon on parts of the route.
10 Moortown-Shadwell Lane/Birchwood Hill-Roundhay Park-Roundhay Road-Leeds-Hunslet-Belle Isle Road-Middleton (Thorpe Lane). This follows todays number 12 route except it diverts via Birchwood Hill. It ran every 20 minutes all day including evenings Monday to Saturday, half hourly Sunday and with extra peak journeys Monday to Friday.
12 Leeds-Dewsbury Road-Middleton via the Ring Road (not the Bodmins), this ran like todays number 2 but missed out the Bodmins and served the Ring Road/Middleton Park Avenue instead. It ran every 10 minutes at peak times, 20 minutes off peak during the day, evening and all day Saturdays, half hourly Sunday mornings and every 20 minutes Sunday afternoons.
15/16/17 Seacroft(Town centre 15/16 or Limewood 17)-Gipton (Coldcoates Circus)-Compton Road-Leeds-Copley Hill-Tong Road-Whingate-Gamble Hill(15) or Henconner Lane and Bramley Shopping Centre(16/17). This looks like most of todays 16 between Seacroft and Leeds and parts of the 16 between Leeds and Bramley except todays 16 serves Armley where as this route served Tong Road/Whingate. The 17 ran at peak times both ways and Saturday mornings Bramley-Seacroft only every 15-30 mins. The 15 and 16 ran a frequent service through the day Monday to Saturday daytime and every 15 minutes combined evenings and Sundays.
18/19 Starts as an 18 Leeds-Dewsbury Road-Ring Road-Middleton Arms and Bus Garage-then runs as a 19 Middleton Garage-Belle Isle Road-Hunslet-Leeds-Roundhay Road-Roundhay Park-Moortown Chained Bull. It ran as a through service every 20 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday however one quirk was all services towards Moortown terminated at Roundhay however nearly all journeys ran from the Chained Bull towards Leeds/Middleton. The route description describes services as continuing beyond Roundhay via Street Lane and Roman Avenue/Ring Road to Moortown with a reverse route of the same description gives as well, however buses only run on that section one way, how strange!
20/21 Dewsbury Road-Leeds-Harrogate Road-Moortown Corner (20), Moortown Corner-Roundhay Park-Roundhay Road-Leeds-Hunslet-Belle Isle Ring Road/Sharp Lane (21). This ran as a through route changing numbers at Moortown or Roundhay Park depending on the direction. It ran every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes evenings and Sundays.

2 Dewsbury Road-Leeds-Moortown (Chained Bull) via Chapeltown as today but finishing at the Chained Bull. Presume this started somewhere near the Parkwoods on Dewsbury Road. From the city centre the 2 would head up Dewsbury Road, across the Tommy Wass crossroads and then stop just after the junction. Buses would then turn around to head back to Leeds. This was the terminus of the old Dewsbury Road tram service, hence the buses turned at the same spot. Incidentally, in 1983 service 2 was extended from here to Cottingley. 10 Moortown-Shadwell Lane/Birchwood Hill-Roundhay Park-Roundhay Road-Leeds-Hunslet-Belle Isle Road-Middleton (Thorpe Lane). This follows todays number 12 route except it diverts via Birchwood Hill. It ran every 20 minutes all day including evenings Monday to Saturday, half hourly Sunday and with extra peak journeys Monday to Friday. If you look a little closer at the service 10 timetable you should find the answer! Both the 10 and 19 served the Birchwood Hill route, service 10 ran both ways but at off-peak times only ran TOWARDS Chained Bull. Buses then changed to a 19 FROM Chained Bull. Similarly, service 19 buses arriving at Roundhay Park went from there back to town as a service 10.

That clears things up about the 19, thanks for that, I have to say though it really would have been more helpful for passengers if Metro included this detail in the timetables, their's only a footnote at the bottom of both timetables saying 'for additional journeys to/from Moortown see 19/10. I did suspect they interworked however what stopped me coming to that conclusion was the route description in the 19 timetable misses out the words Birchwood Hill where as the 10 includes it, I'm assuming now something like Shadwell Lane or Roman Avenue are Birchwood Hill and it's not an actual road.
Now for Part 2
22 Temple Newsam - York Road - Leeds - Whitehall Road - Geldard Road - Ring Road - Old Farnley Bar House (via Whincover Drive and Cross Lane). this ran every half hour during peak times with some additional short workings and some depot positioning journeys at the end of the peak period, during the day Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings, all evenings Monday to Sunday and Sunday mornings it ran hourly. During Sunday afternoons, an additional journey operated between Temple Newsam and Leeds however the co-ordinated frequency was every 20-40 mins. The rest of the Sunday route was hourly.
23 Intake - Leeds and Bradford Road - Kirkstall Hill - Burley Road - Leeds. One journey to Leeds Monday to Friday am peak, one pm peak and two journeys from Leeds running Limited Stop pm peak.
25/26 Horsforth Fleece - Horsforth Centre/Old Ball/Broadway/Hawksworth Road (26) or New Road Side (25) - Abbey Road - Kirkstall Road - Leeds - York Road - Cross Gates - Manston - Swarcliffe. The 26 kind of formed a circular (went both ways) around Horsforth a bit like the 50A does. service 26 ran every 15 minutes at peaks and half hourly at all other times including evenings and Sundays. The 25 ran frequently during the peaks, then half hourly from Horsforth off peak and additional journeys ran from Kirkstall Abbey off peak including evenings and Sundays, although the extra's didn't start on Sundays til after 12.
28/30 Adel - Headingley - Leeds - Cross Green, the 30 ran via the Industrial Estate, the 28 ran direct to the markets terminus along Pontefract Lane. Service 30 ran at peak times every 15 minutes, during the day Mon to Fri every 20 mins and half hourly Saturday mornings every half hour to Cross Green, and every 20 minutes Saturday Lunchtime from Cross Green. The 28 ran at all other times every 20 minutes Saturday daytime when the 30 wasn't running or half hourly evenings and Sundays with some additional peak workings between Adel and Leeds. I think this was 100% Headingley ran.
29 Moortown Sandhill Lane - Stonegate Road - Stainbeck/Potternewton - Scott Hall Road - Leeds - Wellington Road/Armley Giratory - Domestic Street - Holbeck - Beeston Road - Old Lane - Beeston Park Ring Road - Middleton Park Avenue and the Sissons estate back to MPA. Return journeys served the Thorpe estate. The second half of this route from Leeds seems to form a lot of todays 74 route, just with a different route to Holbeck. It had a strange timetable, it ran mostly every 10 mins at peak times from Moortown, with some journeys terminating in Leeds, between Middleton and Moortown am peak it ran every 20 miutes and every 10 minutes from Middleton to Leeds all am peak. Between 9am and lunchtime Mon to Fri it ran half hourly and from lunchtime every 20 mins until the evening peak. During the evening peak it ran every 20 mins from Moortown with additional journeys from Leeds to Middleton to form a 10 minute frequency. Saturdays through the day it ran every 20 mins and evenings and Sundays it ran half hourly.
31 Moortown Sandhill Lane - Brackenwood - Roundhay Road - Leeds - Whitehall Road - New Farnley - Gildersome - Drighlington. This looks to be a combination of todays 13 to Leeds and more or less the 209 from Leeds to Drighlington. It ran half hourly Moortown to Drighlington all day Monday to Sunday with additional part route workings during the peaks and Saturdays.

Birchwood Hill is an area, but is also a road linking Shadwell Lane & ring road. It was served by various routes through the years but no longer served since the start of the SEVENS. THE last route to run was a variant of the Shadwell service 45 ?

Part 3
34 Leeds - Scott Hall Road - Moortown Street Lane West/Harrogate Road(outbound only) - King Lane - Alwoodley Lane - King Lane - Scott Hall Road - Leeds. You've seen various versions of this service, and the next one before as in the 34, 35, 35M and todays 7A service, they've all more or less kept to the same route just with a few smallish differences. This bus ran from Leeds every half hour Monday to Saturday from early til just after the pm peak then hourly til late with a few extra early morning and Mon to Fri am peak short workings from Moortown or Alwoodley to Leeds. Sundays it ran hourly.
35 reverse of the 34 serving Moortown in the return direction. This had a strange timetable, services ran half hourly from early til 3pm Monday to Friday (with some early short workings to Allerton High School), then at pm peak times the frequency increased to every 15 mins then went back to hourly til late. Saturdays is the strange bit, Saturday mornings the service ran half hourly then at lunchtime the service still ran half hourly as a through service, however between 11.30am and 1.30pm as well as 3pm to 5.30pm there were a number of short workings between Leeds and King Lane. Saturday evenings it ran hourly til late and so too all day Sundays.
36 Leeds - Harrogate - Ripon. This has never changed, it's the same route as todays 36, the service was jointly ran by West Yorkshire and United. The only difference was one journey on school days what served Markington, and one evening journey what ran from the Wellington Street coach station with up to two on a morning to the coach station. It ran every half hour through the day Mon to Sat, and every hour evenings and Sundays to Ripon with a last bus to Ripon at 21.45. The service to Harrogate was every 15 mins through the day and half hourly evenings and Sundays with a last bus at 22.45 so the timetable hasn't changed too much between Leeds and Harrogate compared to today.
37/41 Leeds - Scott Hall Road - Moortown Street Lane West and Corner - Shadwell Lane (37) or Wigton Lane, High Ash estate, Alwoodley Gates and Slaid Lane (41) - Shadwell. Monday to Friday services ran half hourly each (every 15 mins combined) Mon to Fri peaks and hourly each (half Hourly combined) Mon to Fri 9am til 3 and all day Saturday. Evenings and Sundays just the 37 ran every hour.
38 Moortown - Gledhow - Oakwood - Gipton - Cross Gates - Whitkirk. This sounds a bit like the first part of the old 38 when it used to run Colton to White Rose. Monday to Saturday it ran half hourly early til late, Sunday mornings it ran hourly then half hourly from lunchtime til late.
40 Stanks - Cross Gates - York Road - Leeds - Stanningley Road - Armley Ridge Road - Raynville Road - Bramley Town Street - Broad Lane - Swinnow Road. This version of the 40 ran direct down York Road and not via Halton like todays. It also tells you how bad the service up Armley Ridge Road and the Raynvilles has got as this ran every 15 minutes Monday to Friday peaks, half hourly off peaks Monday to Friday including evenings til late, Half hourly early Saturday mornings then every 20 mins untilthe evening then half hourly til late, and half hourly on Sundays.

The patterns of service on the Scott hall routes look similar to an old super bus timetable I kept as a kid from 1997. Even on the timetable It had the 34 run anti clockwise the 35 running clockwise around Alwoodley.

Actually the timetable has varied enormously - it's just got worse then better to end up being very similar. I used to catch this route in the late 90s when the Sunday service was hourly and the M-S daytime service every 30 minutes alternating between 36 and 36C with different routes through Harrogate. It's only very recently that peak services via Leeds Infirmary Street have disappeared.

I remember the 36 and the 36A different routings through North harrogate around the 2000's. do remember a 36c variant when the B10 wrights endurance and renowns were on.
The 36 to Ripon ran a route from Harrogate similar to the 2a/2b then via skipton road to Ripon road roundabout.
The 36a ran as the 36 does now, double run via Harrogate town then up Ripon road direct.
Was half an hour one 36 then 36a but was increased to every 20 mins with one 36 and two 36A per hour.

Part 3 40 Stanks - Cross Gates - York Road - Leeds - Stanningley Road - Armley Ridge Road - Raynville Road - Bramley Town Street - Broad Lane - Swinnow Road. This version of the 40 ran direct down York Road and not via Halton like todays. It's that bad that the last bus from town up to Raynvilles is about 18.30 from town if it turns up and nothing on Sundays

Yes, thanks - 36A rather than 36C - there was a 36C, trying to remember if it was a short run or the Jennyfield Estate runs. The 36 via King's Road was most useful to me as that's where my girlfriend (now my wife) lived in the late 90s - 2001 whilst I lived the other side of Halifax. There were a number of ways of getting to/from her house by public transport and I must have used them all.

the 36C was a peak variant from Leeds - Harrogate - Jennyfield. The 36/36A existed until 2003/2004, just a few months after the Wright eclipse deckers joined the route and the route got standardised as just 36.

I forgot the 36 had a route variation around Harrogate but never realised it ran lower than every 20 mins from Leeds to Harrogate, really surprised with the half hourly frequency.
Part 4
42 and 66 Harehills Road - St James Hospital - direct to Leeds via Burmantofts Street not Lincoln Green - Wellington Road - Oldfield Lane then 66 to Leysholme Green Hill Lane and 42 to Lower Wortley - Whincover Drive and Butterbowl Drive Old Farnley.
The 66 seems to have served Leysholme on and off over the years until recently in various formats. The 42 looks to have kept most of it's route from 1980 with the only changes being the extension to Gipton/Oakwood, the Harehills Road bit getting cut back to Stanley Road and it now serves Lincoln Green. Now for the confusing frequency bit which I've split down to make it easier to understand.
Harehills to Old Farnley through buses ran every 10 mins at peak times Mon to Fri, every 10/20 mins from 08.35 until 12.45 and from just after the evening peak until late night, and every 15 mins from 12.35 until 15.15. The same pattern applies in the opposite direction obviously at different lunch and afternoon times. Saturdays services ran every 15/20 mins early then every 15 mins during the day and every 10/20 in the evening. Sundays all buses ran as through buses with a couple of part workings at lunchtime, Sunday mornings every 20/30 mins, then every 10 to 20 mins til late.
Harehills to Leeds, Oldfield Lane and Lower Wortley the frequency was as good as every 5 mins at peak times with additional short workings, every 10 mins from after the am peak to lunch, then from Lunch as follows. Every 4/6 mins Harehills to Leeds, every 5/10 mins to Oldfield Lane and 5/10/15 mins to Lower Wortley, told you it was complex! The afternoon peak had a frequency of every 5/10 mins from/to Lower Wortley and every 5 mins from/to Oldfield Lane. Evenings and Sundays the combined frequency from Harehills to Oldfield Lane was every 10 mins. Saturdays during the day had a frequency like the Monday to Friday off peak frequency.
Finally just to add the 66 ran every 20 mins at peaks and half hourly at all other times.
43/43A York and Coast stopping bus. Their was also an express which I'll include later. Bradford - Leeds Wellington Street and Vicar Lane - Tadcaster Woodlands 43 or Leeds Road 43A - Tadcaster - York - Malton - Scarborough. Daily 2 journeys a day ran to/from Bradford and a mostly hourly service (with some slight early/late differences on some days) ran to/from Leeds with an extra peak working as well as a last bus Leeds to Malton at 21.25.
44/A Leeds - York - Dunnington - Pocklington - Driffield - Bridlington 44B as 44 but via Barmby Moor Village, not the Barmby Moor main road like the 44 45 as 44 to Dunnington then Stamford Bridge - Wetwang - Garton - Driffield then as the 44 to Bridlington
The Leeds to Bridlington frequency daily was roughly every 2 with some differences. I shan't break things regarding the 44 group because some journeys on the 44 for example ran to a different route to other 44s or on different days to a different route. Same applies to the others. The 45 had one journey mornings from Brid to Leeds and 2 return journeys during the day from Leeds to Brid.
The combined 43/44s/45 frequency from Leeds to York Mon to Sat was half hourly up to 7pm roughly (extra short workings Leeds to York made up the half hourly frequency) with an extra pm peak journey meaning a 20 min service from 5 til 5.40pm, evenings and Sundays it ran up to every half hour with some differences, e.g the evening frequency from Leeds to York drops to every 45 mins however from York to Leeds it stays at half hourly.
47 Leeds - Whitehall Road - Ring Road - Pudsey Road - Swinnow. This service only ran at peak times, Swinnow to Leeds am peak up to every 15 mins and Leeds to Swinnow pm peak every 15 mins.
49 Hyde Park - Cardigan Road - Kirkstall Willow Road/Canal Road - Armley Town Street - Tong Road - Old Farnley Butt Lane and Cross Lane. As someone described earlier, this was the pre-cursor to todays number 5 between Kirkstall and Old Farnley obviously with some route differences. At peak times it ran every 12 mins and half hourly at other times including evenings and weekends.
50 Gipton Oak Tree Drive - Strathmore Drive - Compton Road - -Stoney Rock Lane - Leeds - Burley - Hawksworth - Horsforth via Broadgate Lane. This ran via the route of todays 42 between Gipton and Compton and has kept it's original route from Leeds to Horsforth. It ran every 12/15/20 mins during the peaks with some extra part route journeys in both directions to/from Leeds to make up a decent frequency, Monday to Friday mornings after peak time until lunch it ran every 20 mins, afternoons every 15 mins, and evenings Monday to Sunday every 20 mins. Saturday it ran every 12 mins during the day with a lower frequency early Saturday and early Sunday mornings it ran hourly with some short workings, then half hourly til lunch then every 20 mins til late.

Just to add onto part 4, at some point I'll scan a copy of the coast timetables including the express ones so you'll see the times, all places served and see my point about services with the same number not serving the same places every journey and diviating to places supposedly served only by a different number.
Part 5
52/53 Moortown - Tounge Lane - Meanwood - Leeds - M621 - Elland Road - Churwell - Morley centre - Britannia Road - Tingley Mill (both ran the opposite of each other between Morley and Britannia Road Tingley and Morley. The combined frequency for most peak time through journeys was every 10 mins with some short workings finishing at or starting from Leeds and a couple of larger gaps in the peak through frequency filled in by the short workings. Towards Morley, one extra journey started in Leeds on Fridays only at 15.27 with a normal through journey following 3 mins later, Monday to Thursday it started at the Fountian Inn, can anyone shed any light on this weird Friday working? Additionally some very short workings happened between The Fountian Inn/Bridge Street and Tingley Mill or Morley, these are probably finishing from a previous journey or going on to form the next outbound journey. The daytime frequency Mon to Fri was every 15 mins, the Saturday frequency during the day was every 10 mins almost from the start of service, early Saturday journeys started as part workings until roughly between half 6 and half 7 forming different frequencies throughout the route. Evening and Sunday frequencies were every 20 mins most of the time with some short early Sunday workings, late night split short workings (for some bizzare reason as in a bus arriving in Briggate from Morley at 23.05 and another working shown from Briggate to Moortown at 23.05) and additional workings such as a bus from Leeds to Morley at 22.37 on Saturdays followed by the usual through journey 3 mins later.
54 Meanwood (unsure where from) - Leeds - Holbeck Ninevah Road and Top Moor Side - Cemetery Road - Little Town Lane (where the hell is this?) - Elland Road - Cottingley. It ran up to every 10 mins am and pm peak times with some gaps and part route workings during peak periods then every 15 mins during the day Mon to Fri. Mon to Fri evenings, all day Saturday and Sunday til late the frequency was every 20 mins. Saturday also had a few short workings at the start of Saturday mostly from Leeds to Meanwood and strangely one lone short working at 04.58 from Meanwood to Leeds, the next bus being a through bus at 07.14! Just to add, the 52/3/4 all ran the same way from Meanwood to Leeds, hence why I'm saying it's a strange working, can't see why it needed to be numbered 54 as 52 also ran a short working between Meanwood and Leeds at 05.13.
56 Leeds - Hyde Park back streets - Headingley Eden Drive. This service ran like the 56 does today on the section between Leeds and Headingley except it started at the bus station. It ran between every 5 and 10 mins during am and pm peaks and every 10 mins during the day Monday to Fri. Early Saturdays it ran every 20 mins then from mid morning until Saturday lunch it ran every 12 mins going on to every 10 mins Saturday afternoons. Evenings Monday to Sunday and Sunday afternoons the frequency was every 20 mins with a half hourly frequency Sunday mornings.
57/9 Leeds (Corn Ex 57 Briggate 59) - Hyde Park Circular via Park Lane, Belle Vue Road, Moorland Road, Hyde Park Road, Woodhouse Street, Meanwood Road back to Leeds. The 59 ran in the opposite direction. These ran mostly every 15 mins at peak times with some journeys running as short workings and half hourly off peak Mon to Fri. On Saturday buses started around half 6 til half 6 at night every half hour. No service ran evenings and Sundays.
58/60 Leeds (Corn Ex) - Hyde Park circular via Park Lane, Woodhouse Square, Clarendon Road, Belle Vue Road, Moorland Road, Hyde Park Road, Woodhouse Street, Servia Hill, Lovell Park back to Leeds. The 60 ran in the opposite direction. These services looked to cover many parts of the 57/9 either directly or close to those routes as well as having it's own individual sections. They ran most of the day Monday to Saturday every 15 mins each. Some early morning/evening journeys ran as part workings and this meant a 30 min frequency ran for early morning/evening through workings. For the rest of the evening Mon to Sat and all day Sundays til late they ran every half hour each.
61/62 Leeds Inner City Circulars. 61 ran from Leeds Eastgate via Black Bull Street, South Accommodation Road, Richmond Hill, East End Park, Lupton Avenue, Hudson Road, Stanley Road, Bayswater Road, Barrack Road, Sheepscar Interchange, Lovell Park estate, New Woodhouse Lane, LGI, Headrow back to Eastgate. The 62 ran in the opposite direction. Both services ran every 15 mins from early morning til early evening with some early short workings Mon to Sat. Evenings and Sundays the frequency was strange, it seemed to be based on when buses arrived back to Leeds and can best be described as every 20-25 mins Mon to Sat evening with bigger gaps of 45 mins on Sunday mornings. For example buses ran on Saturday evenings on the 61 at 18.53, 19.10, 19.30, 19.55, 20.15, 20.40, 21.00, 21.25, 21.45, 22.10, 22.30 and 2 short workings to York Road at 22.55 and 23.15. You needed a timetable handy unless your memory was good.

Remember the 50 in Horsforth used to Terminate Top of Broadgate lane at the junction of Alexandra road and turn round there. wasn't til late 80s early 90s when it started to extend to Town Street. Then we had the 50A to Old Ball and the 50B Sunday service to Leeds Bradford Airport. Then it extended from Town street to The Fleece on new road side when the 77/75 was withdrawn. 54 Meanwood (unsure where from) - Leeds - Holbeck Ninevah Road and Top Moor Side - Cemetery Road - Little Town Lane (where the hell is this?) - Elland Road - Cottingley. The Meanwood terminus was at Green View, just past Waitrose, same stop where the 51 still calls en route to Leeds. Little Town Lane roughly existed along the stretch of Elland Road between the football ground and Holbeck. I think it "became" Elland Road as a diversion when the M621 was built. (Elland Road used to follow the line of the motorway and Little Town Lane ran nearby alongside)

I never knew the 50 terminated at the top of Alexandra Avenue for a period, always thought it ran into centre of Horsforth, you learn something new every time on here.
Part 6
64/95 Halton - Cross Gates - Stanks - Seacroft (95 via Brooklands Avenue and Kentmere Avenue, 64 via Asket Avenue/Drive) Boggart Hill - Easterley Road - Gledhow Valley Road - Stonegate Road - Meanwood Monkbridge Road - Headingley North Lane - Kirkstall Bridge Road - Armley Ridge Road - Whingate - Wortley Whitehall Road/Ring Road. The second half of this route looks to mirror todays 38 as far as Wortley and the first half I think seems to mirror the old 39 from the 1990s which formed a few journeys as part of the old 38 Colton to Ringways service although I may be wrong on that part. The 64 ran hourly during the day (including both peaks) Monday to Saturday and combined with the 95 to form a 20 minute frequency for through journeys until around 6pm Mon to Sat with the 64 starting it's last through working at 16.30 from Halton and 16.40 from Wortley. 95s had additional short workings at peak times to form a 10 min frequency throughout most of the route, the only section not covered by short workings was between Halton and Seacroft. On Saturdays from mid morning until early evening a 20 minute frequency ran with early journeys forming a 30 minute frequency. Evenings and Sundays a 30 minute frequency ran.
67/8 Leeds Bus Station - Skinner Lane - Cherry Row - Dolly Lane - Roundhay Road - Easterley Road - then 67 via Boggart Hill to Monkswood Avenue and 68 via Oakwood Lane and Amberton Road to Foundry Lane. These 2 services ran at a very high combined frequency of up to every 5 mins at peaks as well as all day Saturday until early evening, and 7/8 mins during the day Monday to Friday. Individual frequencies were mainly every 10 mins at peaks and 15 mins during the day although this did alter at peak times. Evenings and Sundays only the 67 ran every 20 mins evenings, and half hourly Sundays.
69 Leeds City Square - Roundhay Road - Gledhow Lane - Jackson Avenue - Gledhow North Park Avenue. During the AM peak it ran every 20 mins, Monday to Friday from 9 til noon and all day Saturday it ran hourly. Monday to Friday afternoon til 6 it ran half hourly.
71 Leeds Bus Station - Scott Hall Road - Stainbeck - Carr Manor - King Lane - Lingfield estate - Primley Park. Monday to Friday this ran every 12 mins at peaks and half hourly during the day and after the pm peak til late. On Saturdays it ran half hourly til mid morning then every 15 mins until the evening then half hourly til late. Sundays it ran hourly until early afternoon then half hourly til late.
72 Leeds - Armley - Stanningley - Thornbury - Bradford. Now this route hasn't changed.... or has it? Think I'd better ask you lot first because you'll come up with some nugget of unknown info knowing my luck. Anyway Monday to Friday this broadly ran every 15 mins throughout the day until early evening with an additional through journey and many part workings at peak times. Saturday mornings it ran half hourly until mid morning then every 15 mins until the evening with some additional short workings early morning around 6pm. Evenings and Sundays it ran half hourly.
73 Greenthorpe - Bramley - Kirkstall - Moor Grange. This service ran hourly from early til late Monday to Saturday and lunch til late on Sundays.

Was the 73 the one which was later remembered, was it 76, but only ran a very irregular service around 2000, maybe Saturday evenings only if I recall?
