TPE EMU 350 402 has received the new silver livery. I was under the impression the class 350's were to be transferred away from TPE (London Midland mooted as their likely destination), once the new CAF's arrive. Have plans changed?. Just seems to be a bit odd giving these units the new livery, when they are due away soon.

The new TPE trains are long enough away to warrant new colours and bring them to the new corporate colour scheme

From May 2018 the following services will call at Dewsbury. 1 tph Middlesbrough - Leeds - Manchester Airport. 1 tph Hull - Leeds - Manchester Piccadilly (semi fast) 1 tph Leeds - Manchester Piccadilly (calls at most stops)

Just to add:
The Manchester Pic-Hull service will make additional calls at Mossley, Slaithwaite, Dewsbury, Batley and also Garforth (replacing the Middlesbrough service). On Sundays Batley and Garforth are not served.
The extra Manchester Pic-Leeds is essentially the two existing Northern services linked together at Huddersfield but with fewer station stops. Calling points are generally Stalybridge, Greenfield, Marsden, Huddersfield, Deighton, Mirfield, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, Batley and Morley. On Sundays Cottingley is also served and the service runs hourly.
The Northern stopper via Brighouse fills in for stations missed by the above Transpennine trains, calling at Cottingley, Morley, Dewsbury and Mirfield.
Calling patterns for all these trains differ for early/late trains and at peak times.
Transpennine will see the same level of service on Sundays as weekdays (total of 6tph Leeds-Manchester).

The TPE stopping pattern (train calling at Marsden doesn't call at Slaithwaite for example) will hopefully decimate the Ale Trail which over the last few years has become an excuse for the more empty headed to get pissed and behave like dickheads.

Re the post by Craig. Additional calls mean additional running time. So much for progress and reducing travel times between major cities in the north.

This is literally the only thing to be said in favour of this ridiculous arrangement but it isn't in any way to the credit of anybody in the railway industry as it was hatched in London some five or six years ago before the Ale Trail became a problem and has been persisted with since despite local objections. There is of course also a perfectly decent bus service between the two points but it's doubtful whether the arrogant cretins down south considered or even knew this either before deciding to impose their will upon local rail users.

Re the post by Craig. Additional calls mean additional running time. So much for progress and reducing travel times between major cities in the north. Except it doesn’t because there are still 4 trains an hour which only call at Huddersfield (one of which calls at Dewsbury) and they are also quite nicely at almost 15 minute evenly spaced intervals. In fact it’s better for Yorkshire as none of these now call at Stalybridge, although it’s a poor deal for them as they are now only served by the semi fast or slows.

Re the post by Craig. Additional calls mean additional running time. So much for progress and reducing travel times between major cities in the north. There's also some irony of a Transpennine Express service calling at most stops! I'm not yet convinced the timetable has enough resilience built in for it to be reliable enough. And then there's the issue of capacity....

As more stops are proposed then the phrase "Transpennine Express" should be changed to "Transpennine Snail" or something similar.

The name of the TOC ceased to make sense when they took over Manchester to Edinburgh.
Could brand it in announcements and stuff as “ Transpennine Link” maybe

It’s a shame the Manchester Airport services from May onwards don’t stop at Deansgate. That would be a good metrolink interchange.

The May 2018 timetable, valid from 20 May, will not be finalized until 27 April, due to various circumstances.

I believe this is a problem that is not restricted to TPE. According to information posted elsewhere it is network wide and the problems are believed to be Network Rail's fault.

Anyone noticed TPE’s done a refurb on some of the 185’s. They’ve painted the rails dark blue, seats are blue and grey and dark blue carpets too. Also extra charging point and USB sockets on non table seats too. Picture quality isn’t the best, I had to reduce the size of the photo for upload Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

I prefer them more than the un-refurbished and the route maps are also more up to date.

It will be interesting to see how the new trains work on this route with the doors at the end of the carriage. It will definitely cause delays to boarding and unloading. The last trains on this route to have that layout, the 158`s, were a nightmare.

Does anyone have a date of when the new trains will be in service? I've seen May 2018?

The last trains on this route to have that layout, the 158`s, were a nightmare. The fact that when you enter via those doors there might actually be some seats available may prevent delay. At the moment you get on and immediately stop in your tracks when you realise there isn't anywhere to sit. I'm personally not a fan of the class 150 style layout on long distance trains with the doors opening straight into the saloon

Are all the 185's in the "new" corporate livery?, or are some still in the original dynamic lines livery?. Thanks.
