They've just announced on their FB page that the final day of operations of the 223 service is next Friday. It's been withdrawn. My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with those and their families who will lose the jobs if that happens. Especially as it's so close to Christmas! i'm surprised at that coz when i've seen it it usually has decent loadings

According to their recent Facebook posts, they mention Arriva have changed the fares and timetables in order to 'compete'. Whilst it seems a tad unlikely, can anyone confirm if they have made any fare changes or timetable changes around the area recently? Its not a place I frequent much anymore is the Hemsworth/South Elmsall corridor.

Its not a place I frequent much anymore is the Hemsworth/South Elmsall corridor. Arriva increased the frequency of 496 to every 15 mins and its likely they could have introduced specific route saver tickets for the service. If Arriva have said they've done this on Customer feedback then it will be interesting if it's getting used by these said customers because if not they'll more than likely drop the frequency back down again and but the extra vehicles for the 496 pvr change back on the 148/149

I always thought a company should take over former M's Travel Castleford to Chequerfield route, as I thought that was quite popular. Maybe BL Travel should do this

Is the 223 withdrawn 100% as on Metro's bus alert for it not running says it's until further notice which can imply there's a chance it will return

M Travel used to do that route and was quite popular from what I heard, and didn't the M travel route go more into glasshoughton round where gala bingo is rather than the 411 does?

The 187 operates past Gala Bingo to Castleford anyway so I don't think that there's much demand for other routes that way And with regards to that part of Glasshoughton to Chequerfield that would be covered by the 410

I've been on the 187 and it's usually packed from Airedale onwards

I've been on the 187 and it's usually packed from Airedale onwards I think the best way to solve that would be to double the frequency of the 187-188 (as well as add later 187s) because they get really busy even between Normanton and Wakefield, as well as that the 188 is the only bus from Castleford to Knottingley.

Not really sure how to word this so please bear with me.
So today Tuesday 14th of January 2020 I read that the 249 service route formerly run by BL Travel is now operated by Watersons Coaches of Hemsworth, according to their website its due to BL Travel going into receivership. Also it would appear that the Metro Access bus contract that BL Travel held has now been passed over to CT Plus ( Wakefield Depot ).
The 223 service ceased last November apparently due to conflict of interest with Arrive Yorkshire and now this double whammy.
Its a real shame really as Brian Lockwood put many many hours into starting up his business and now its gone, or so were told or led to believe.
From what I can gather BL Travel still have the 2 full size capacity coaches and a relatively old one.
If anyone can shed any further light on this then that would be truly awesome.

BL Travel having nothing on the website or social media about the 249 swapping to Watersons and the same on the Watersons website or social media. Metro says it changed and will update info screens and timetables in the near future. Accessbus Wakefield is still run by BL Travel as i've seen two of the vehicles today with BL Travel drivers and CT Plus hasn't taken it on. Pontefract & Castleford Express have nothing either on it. So the question is where did you get the info from as the 223 service is the only one BL Travel have publicised about it stopping in November?

Hi there stephen01,
I have read the watersons website and definatley seen the part where it states that from Monday 14th of January 2020 it`ll be taking over operation of the 249 service due to the former operator going into receivership.
Also the Access bus drivers were told to take the solo`s to CT Plus depot after their duties sunday evening so as to begin operation Monday morning from Caldervale road, the accessbus drivers will keep their roles if they so wish all be it employed by CT Plus.
Granted there isn't anything on BL`s website or facebook or twitter page which is even more strange as I`ve been monitoring it for the last 24 hours or so.
Metro`s website does state that a new operator is now running the 249 from January 13th and that the timetable will remain the same with the new operator ( Waterson`s ).

I've been monitoring all the relevant sources since the operator notices were posted on here at the end of last week
