To add to the above notes - the Huddersfield Free Town Bus is being rerouted via Kirklees College (during term time only) and therefore requiring 3 buses. It is going to do the College section first, then return to the Bus Station to do the existing route. Secondly, Routes 71 & 78A are being withdrawn by Little Red Bus at the end of August owing to reductions in funds etc by North Yorks. This will explain some minor alterations on the 66/67 routes by K & D.

These are big losses for Transdev York, it basically means the only local "York" branded service left will be service 20, and of course that doesn't serve York City Centre.
In PVR terms it is 7 buses worth of work. (1 full sized single deck, 5 Solos/Versas & 1 double deck)

In PVR terms it is 7 buses worth of work. (1 full sized single deck, 5 Solos/Versas & 1 double deck) The 20 is only intermittently "local York" branded anyway! With one bus in neon pink 'route 20' branding, and Coastliner and Starship liveries often there as well, you're not even guaranteed to get a white rose operating at all on any given day! PVR of 7 but only 6 buses needed for most of the rest of the day. I can't help wondering if (a) Transdev are giving Arriva a poisoned chalice here, with contracts negotiated at a rate that isn't viable for the level of patronage, or (b) they are planning to launch new commercial routes and needed to release the resources to do that ... although if that was the case, it's surprising that they haven't registered them yet.

As well as the 20, they will still have the 10 evening service and 11/13A/16A on a Sunday won't they?

This will explain some minor alterations on the 66/67 routes by K & D. Apparently not. It seems the LRB routes are being taken over by NYCC themselves (it's not clear if there's any cuts - not that there's a lot left to cut on the 71). The K&D changes are the removal of the extension of one 66 to Skipton schools and the removal of the 1515 Keighley to Crosshils which I think currently then goes on to become a School service. www.northyorks.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=18949&p=0

Transdev York have lost all but one of their school services from September
627 - to Arriva Yorkshire 637 - to Arriva Yorkshire 647 - to Arriva Yorkshire F21 - to York Pullman F26 - to York Pullman T13 - to York Pullman 5W - to EYMS 6W - to EYMS 7W - to EYMS 8W - to EYMS 9W - to EYMS 10W - to EYMS
The only school service remaining is the 093S run by a single decker.
This should remove all the Olympians from York and the Urban Cool single deck and along with the service bus losses discussed earlier is almost halving the PVR at York depot.

Led to believe First want to withdraw 591 and 593 and increase 594 to 4 per hour which will increase Todmorden services to 6 per hour but mean Heptonstall and Old Town lose their direct link to Halifax with links to Hebden Bridge provided by revised minibus services instead

They almost did this when the Overground/Hebden Bridger launched, but it never happened. Will it happen this time I wonder. Probably not ideal timing off the back of the recent period of poor minibus services in Hebden Bridge.

They almost did this when the Overground/Hebden Bridger launched, but it never happened. Will it happen this time I wonder. Probably not ideal timing off the back of the recent period of poor minibus services in Hebden Bridge. On Metro's consultation page the whole network for Hebden Bridge is to be revised and smaller buses will be used however details haven't been finalised yet, their subject to consultation and the final network will be announced in September. As mentioned above, it's proposed for the Old Town/Heptonstall to Halifax routes to be withdrawn and for additional journeys every half hour to run Halifax - Hebden Bridge - Todmorden in their place. This is a proposition by First. Metro will instead run a small bus every 30 mins between Hebden Bridge and Heptonstall extending hourly to Blackshaw Head and half hourly from Hebden Bridge to Dodd Naze and Old Town not serving Keighley Road, the 500 will continue to serve Keighley Road. Cragg Vale will be served by the 900/901 all day every day including Sundays and time changes are proposed to the Nest Estate service. Eaves and Fairfield will continue to be served hourly off peak as the trial has been successful.

Wonder if that will be a full service through the day or if it will be reduced (particularly at peak times when it needs an extra bus).

I wonder whether Transdev are dumping York local work so that they can bid for East Yorkshire without creating OFT concern in York?
Also, for M Travel to operate local work in Leeds is a new venture for them. Mind you, could it encourage a takeover bid from CentreBus?

Hope Little Red Bus having gone into liquidation at short notice in midweek isn't a sign of things to come in given current tough times
Presume the M Travel X63 is a school bus in reality

I wonder whether Transdev are dumping York local work so that they can bid for East Yorkshire without creating OFT concern in York? Why would Transdev operating some local routes cause any OfT concerns if they bid for EYMS? If market share was ever a concern, the presence of First would solve the concern

Do you just think of these 'takeovers' up in your sleep or do you actually put some thought in to them?

Do you just think of these 'takeovers' up in your sleep or do you actually put some thought in to them? These are geographically more logical than perhaps they first looked. Mind you, there is some truth in the idea that I find following bus takeovers a more exciting ride than many buses themselves!

Hope Little Red Bus having gone into liquidation at short notice in midweek isn't a sign of things to come in given current tough times Unlikely, they've said it was because they could no longer cover the repayments on a loan taken out 6 years ago. Without that historical loan, the business should still have been viable. As long as other operators haven't got those kinds of debts then they should be OK.
