Hi there, I'm Alex and I'm a regular user of buses in Huddersfield. Im quite a fan of Alexander Royales since they were popular on the lines I used back when I was a high school and college student. I currently study architecture at Huddersfield Uni. I see buses as architecture and ive always found it very interesting to see how different interiors and exterior designs can affect the feel and environment of them to the user. This forum seems to be the main place for bus discussion so I thought id get involved a bit, although I admit it took me a while to find it since its private to non-users (not Google indexed!). My friend DaveG invited me here. Thank you for accepting my account Alex

Hi Alex and welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting your intro.
I've been quite a fan of Royales too since they first appeared although I don't think we'll be seeing them on the streets for very much longer.
Hope you enjoy using the forum

Alex, You've joined the forum at the right time, As you'll get the full rundown of what's happening to Huddersfield's Royale's. Currently there are 4 of the R Reg batch and 1 of the T Reg batch withdrawn. Educated guesses predict the rest will go within the next few month's or even weeks, To be replaced by more cascaded buses from Leeds (ALX400's?.). Anyway welcome to the forum.

Hi, Driver6540
I have a fleet list which I have been logging the ones currently in action and yes I have noticed the ones you mentioned which are gone.
They used to be allocated to the Holmfirth lines I use all the time but its rare to seem them on it nowadays, seems they are serving the 398 and 200 most of the time :/
It is a shame since they are powerful especially up the hills around the area and were a significant image of the buses in Huddersfield over recent years. Now the fleets are all sort of becoming very bland across the country. The Royales did give Huddersfield its character, and likely why 30843 did get chosen for the Anniversary livery maybe. The darts sort of too although I know they are seen as not good buses by many, still did this. When they are all gone it will feel different in the town, even subconsciously to those who dont even use the bus.
btw, are you actually a driver here too?

Hi Alex, Im an HGV class 1 driver, Not a PSV driver. I monitor (As close as i can) my local fleets (First Hudds,HBC,and K-Line etc) and post anything that may be of interest to other members. It has to be said now that many of the remaining Royale's are now feeling a little tired and unfortunately are past their best. But they'll still be missed and remembered as Huddersfield's last step-entrance deckers.
