Does anyone know when these Apparent hybrid Gemini's are meant to arrive at Castleford? Just to confirm the timescale for the Hybrids, the article below says that Arriva Yorkshire's next major launch will be the hybrids early in 2013. The Arriva Yorkshire Facebook page confirms that 40 new buses will be in service by the end of the year so it sounds as if the Pulsars will just trickle into service with less fanfare this time. busandcoach.com/featurepage.aspx?id=7028&categoryid=0

I wonder where Bus and Coach get the Arriva Yorkshire information.
I found two obvious errors in it quote
"An enthusiastic team and a young fleet characterise the Arriva Yorkshire business, which is the number two operator in West Yorkshire with a share of just under 25 per cent of the region's bus mileage. It's a compact business, running 330 buses from five depots, just over half of which have been delivered since 2008"
Half the fleet have been delivered since 2008, I could only find 128 out of 328 is just under 40%
To attract more passengers there was a focus on service delivery standards, with operated mileage well in excess of 99.5 per cent, a big investment in new vehicles (the average fleet age is 5 years)
I make the fleet average age just over 7 years 6 months, best depot is Heckmondwike at just over 4 years 6 months, worse is Belle Isle at 9 years 4 months

Maybe they have been given the fleet profiles for after the delivery of the 40 Pulsars or even after the Hybrids are in service, the numbers may make more sense then?

Maybe they have been given the fleet profiles for after the delivery of the 40 Pulsars or even after the Hybrids are in service, the numbers may make more sense then? While that might work for the number of new buses delivered since 2008, the average age of the fleet would only fall to just over six years if the 40 new Pulsars are delivered now and the 40 oldest (ALX300's and the Ikarus) buses removed. Wait until 2013 for the new one to be delivered and of course all the rest of the fleet would be 6 months older by the end of February 2013. Even if you add in the Hybrids and take out all the step Spectras that gets nearer to 5.5 years if those came now or 6 years by 1.1.2013

Its looks like it will be a photofinish to decide whether Arriva Yorkshire or Arriva Midlands will be the first all LF region of the company outside London. Arriva Midlands/Wardle have six double decks and seven single decks with step entrances so they have the edge.
624-641 are Arriva's newest step deckers along with NW's DB250 V715 LWT, but even these are now 13 y.o.
Perhaps they could be sold to Transdev to replace the near 30 year old Leyland Olympians!

There is too much residual value still left on these (624-641). Penfold

I agree that they are too young for Barnsley but they could be transferred within Arriva if Yorkshire wants to go all low floor.

Could this mean the end of the old ALX300's then? They've served us well over the years, but they are showing their age now. Was on 476 last night and it rattled like a biscuit tin full of marbles.

Wheres everyone complaining about Arriva buying Wright products? I mean, most complain about First doing it so why not Arriva?

I would have chosen Citaros, something we've hardly ever seen in West Yorkshire in service.

I do like the Wright products but i really need to come around to Pulsars which so far i havn't liked, They seem very lightweight and plasticy and the wheels are too small for the bodywork.
