Next time I go to the south west, I plan to fly to Exeter from my local airport at Manchester. I know that Exeter is FlyBe's spiritual home.

Shame they have no french routes from LBA. Yup, missing out on the RL trade in the summer months to Perpignan, Carcassone etc.

LBA is becoming more of a low cost carrier airport than a charter airport. Jet2 and Ryanair dominated. Used to one day be Britannia basing a 737-800, Airtours an A320 and Air 2000 an A321 with loads of Spanish airlines like Spanair, Futura and Iberworld, these days it's totally different.

Next time I go to the south west, I plan to fly to Exeter from my local airport at Manchester. I know that Exeter is FlyBe's spiritual home. Change of plan! FlyBE took over the Manchester - Newquay route when Air South West closed down. The flight was initially around 10am but as it is nearer lunchtime at least in time for my trip next April, I have just booked to go down with FlyBe then. I travelled FlyBE from Southampton to Manchester on a Friday a month ago as it was the same fare as by train and made a refreshing change. I have been inpressed that FlyBe are usually good timekeepers.

As a regular user of FlyBE on the Leeds to Southampton route, generally they are pretty good. However when things go wrong they are very poor at communicating with their passengers! My Leeds to Southampton journey on Dec 13th took me 12 hours!

FlyBE have just had a takeover offer in the form of a combined bid from Virgin Atlantic (30%), Stobart Air (30%) and Cyrus Capital (40%).
