It was before they got the routes off HJC because they tried to buy both companies but obviously only got the routes from HJC later & not the company. Let's put it this way if you were to believe all rumours coming from drivers at my depot (stagecoach's Wakefield road) then that's been sold several time over this year alone, let alone the other crazy things they think up (Arctic buses being one of the dafter ones) One thing to look out for with drivers, some have very active imagination's when they know a gullible enthusiast is listening in, and will tell you anything.

Probably may offend some(Sorry), But for no other reason than i genuinely think it, I have to say Tates Travel blue/white livery is dull, bland and unimaginative. As an operator who perhaps aspires to expand greatly in WY/SY they need a strong brand image. At the moment they just look anonymous. Many on this forum will feel, its not about how a bus looks, But about the quality of service delivered and i would agree with that. But to the travelling public they need to identify who they pay their fares to develop any kind of brand loyalty. I remember when Stagecoach pulled out of Waterloo some 3/4 years ago, and Centrebus(holdings) T/A Huddersfield Bus Co. took over. People on the Wakefield rd/Dearne Valley corridor immediately started referring to HBC as "Them, wi,t,orange buses". The point im trying to make is, should Tates be serious about expanding,(And im all for the little companys taking on the bigger ones),then they should create a "Noticable" brand to grab the publics attention, thus in theory engendering recognition/loyalty hence more profit/success. Ive just read this post back and realised, I shouldnt be a driver, I should be in Marketing.

Battered Mobile will be N416KPS or a B10M, Which if i'm correct Tate's plan to use on the 96/97 again from September 4th.

At least it will be a change from darts! I also noticed on L621 TDY that it has a new panel on the back which isn't even painted!

Do tates still have the old Stanley Gath base in Dewsbury? Could this be adapted to operate services in the area. Dewsbury and North Kirklees seem to be the only area in West Yorkshire where there is no competition with the exceptions of Longstaff 205 and HBC 262.

I don't think so as they used Arriva's depot in Dewsbury to park their coaches.

So very unlikely to operate a competing service with Arriva in Dewsbury then!

The lack of competition is probably because there isn't really hardly any 'local' services within Dewsbury & North Kirklees to compete with. Almost all services are interurban to Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford etc.

Stanley Gath or tates have a depot in Batley shaw cross area, they have the old ron lyles depot at the top of grange road, unless they have given it up but they were there a few months ago.

Followed Dart CX04---, through Denby Dale this morning on service 24?. I thought the bus did look very clean and well turned out. But the overall livery is just dull as ditchwater.

I understand Tate's are now trailing board numbers and today noted :
W394WPX - 1002 NG02NZB - 1007
There is a White vehicle in the Tate's yard also, Reg number was 993 didn't get the rest of it.
