I think even before then they had an MPD which operated to Monks Cross in York. Around 1999-2001ish.

Not exactly the same breed of Pointers. The newer ones have different interiors and have different sounding engines and were built by Alexander Dennis.

Didn't Plaxton Dart's become Transbus Dart's then only 2 or 3 years later became Alexander Dennis. The newer ones are much more quieter and i prefer them. Shame Arriva didn't buy a big batch.

I found this interesting a few years ago when i was still learning about the bus industry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_DennisIt explains everything about ADL and Transbus aswell as Brian Souter (Owner of Stagecoach) buying out Transbus and naming it Alexander Dennis. The reason the engine is different is because of EU rules where buses had to meet Euro3 standards instead of Euro2

They need the Darts because of the weight limit on Cawood Bridge They could easily have VDL Cadet's or maybe buy some Solo's. Oh god, not Solos, please! I'd rather keep the Darts we have now... Interestingly, I noticed the other day that the sign at Cawood has gone from "7.5T except exempted buses" to a plain old "7.5T". I don't think a Cadet would sneak in under that limit, which would rule them out.

I rode refurbished 104 yesterday, from Castleford to Wakefield. I also did an M Travel Spectra, and several buses linking Barnsley with West Yorkshire, concerned that some of these routes could be withdrawn.
I notice that it is easier to check whether the bus is refurbished at bus stations at Castleford and Pontefract than at Leeds and Wakefield.
I saw some refurbished Volvo B7TL-ALX400s and MPDs, and hope to ride these next time, ideally on route 189 and 174 respectively! I probably would have had time for an ALX400 to Chequerfield but never mind.
I also feel like riding route 128 regardless of vehicle type.

I wonder if this is going to be painted, people have said months ago that it was going to be treated then it was meant to be going for scrap, so god knows what they are doing with it now...

Maybe until the arrival of some new cascades/new buses she might be just kept out. It - 161 - does appear to be on borrowed time being the only non-low floor Dart not only at Belle Isle but also the only single deck non-low floor bus within the Arriva Yorkshire fleet. That said it does appear on a daily basis and can pop up on any of the Belle Isle MPD workings including the 17:35 110 to Leeds

Who would want to buy a step entrance Dart when there's a number of LF examples for sale from numerous dealers? (OK I know we could name a few operators in these here parts that would be interested in step entrance buses! )

It was actually new in October 1996 so will be 15 years old later in the year

Dont the 6 non low flow Ikaruses at Dewsbury with 5 of them in daily use and one of them sat at the back of the depot in pool.

It is apparantly one of the most reliable and economical vehicles at Belle Isle. Penfold
