I know a few people on here were planning to attend this rally today. Just wondered what you folks thought.
What was your star of the show, what did you think of the new venue and what was your favorite journey.
For me, bearing in mind the theme of this year's rally was coaching, my favorite was the Crosville Bristol RE coach TFM267K which looks great in the NBC dual purpose livery.
I like the Coach Street car park as a venue to maximise facilities and parking but did think that maybe it was still a little cramped. Maybe a solution would be to have the cars on display at Bolton Abbey railway station and the buses in Skipton.
Favorite journey has to be the run up to Bolton Abbey on former WYPYE 5003, a beautiful summers day and great scenery with the wind in what's left my hair, short of the sea this has to be what open top buses are created for.

I was planning on attending this rally a few months ago, but when I found out that HJC were running on the KWVR I jumped to the chance and rode round all day on PFN 858

I was there is was a really good day. Good event and even better weather.
Loads of exhibits plenty of variety to ride on and plenty of places to go.
For me the ability to have 3 Albion Motors in one day, now that does takes some doing.
Dewsbury Bus Museums Valiant TWY 8 there and back, Greg's Valkyrin GWT 630 between Skipton and Bolton Abbey via Embassy. Final one was 811 BWR Trevor's Bristol SUL4A, based on an Albion Nimbus, this has an Albion Engine. This took me up the B6265 to Rylstone and back.
I also enjoyed the short trip to Kildwick on 466 FTJ Ex Rawtenstall 1958 Leyland Tiger Cub, along with a number of Transdev drivers on their break

I agree the event was well organised, but must admit my disappointment at the lack of stalls.
Had a great day though.
Journeys made:
Skipton - Gargrave = B144RWY Gargrave - Skipton = B144RWY Skipton - Bolton Abbey (Via A59) = OTT43 Bolton Abbey - Skipton (via Embsay) = NCK338J Skipton - Gargrave = HVH472D Gargrave - Skipton = HVH472D

The lack of stalls was down to some local street on or off street trading laws in Skipton.
I believe the organisers are looking at an alternative site in Skipton for next year which isn't owned by the local authority.

Why not have the stalls up at Bolton Abbey?

Why not have the stalls up at Bolton Abbey? Don't know the answer to that one. I know in the past parking was a problem there

Just a plug for this excellent running day which is this coming Sunday 9th October from 10am. A slight change to last year see the static exhibits, as last year, in the Coach Street car park in Skipton town centre but the running buses are this year based at Bolton Abbey Railway Station. A network of services will as usual operate between Skipton bus station and Bolton Abbey Railway Station and also to a variety of destinations around the Yorkshire Dales. Feeder services will run from Bradford Nelson Street at 8.45 via Saltaire, Bingley, Keighley, Steeton & Kildwick and 9.00 via Shipley, Guiseley, Burley & Ilkley. More details available on the Aire Valley Transport Group website at www.avtg.co.uk/80336/info.php?p=1If you've never attended before I can highly recommend it.

No, not unless they are easier than a Javelin to drive... Although there is no power steering on PJX35 at least you get synchromesh on second, third and top.

I've just come across the disappointing news on the Aire Valley Transport Group website that this years running day scheduled for October 14 has been cancelled due to a 'problem with the site'.
