Came across some interesting photos on Flickr of H&D 2706 undergoing a complete rebuild which if successful will apparently be applied to all the 770 deckers They can be found in the collection at www.flickr.com/photos/44982638@N03/

Is 2706 no longer being transferred to Keighley?

I take it that Transdev are taking the opportunity to rid the reliability problems that the Presidents suffer at the same time.

One photo says they will have new chassis. President/B9TL? Ahh so it does. The work does seem very extensive, but the question begs, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy new vehicles if they decide on refurbishing the rest?

A larger fuel tank will be in order for all Presidents

Does seem rather odd to go to that much work rather than flog em and get new ones. All i can guess is that in these economic difficulties they might not get a buyer and therefore better to rebuild, but who knows?

The cost of a New Gemini 2 which Arriva have just added to Selby is circa £175K. They are quoting over £1.4M for the 8

Thats about the same, maybe slightly more, so why not go for new?

Thats about the same, maybe slightly more, so why not go for new? That cannot be the case, when the original Lynx was re-built at the Bus Works it cost only a fraction of that figure.

£175,000 x8 = £1.4 million

Looking at the extent of the rebuild it looks like it could cost quite alot. The bus is being basically redesigned. A new back window, new forward facing seats throughout, rear lounge downstairs, 2+1 leather seats upstairs, new engine, new floor, new panels, new chassis! New chassis? Now i have heard of re-bodies but never re-chassis!!!

Pointless stunt imo. I know they've just re-done the livery but i think the new buses could be for the 36 and sending them over for the 770. They could actually use the same livery etc. I'd rather see this done than Presidents (that are obviously disliked) updated to this extent .

Well I think they will be having a B9TL engine fitted. I doubt they could change the engine without changing at the very least modifing the rest of the drive line. Will the existing gearbox and ratios be compatable with the later engine?

Well they are having a new chassis fitted so I presume this will be a B9TL chassis.

It could be an integral chassis so could end up with any engine but i think the chassis will be down to weight reduction. Also wouldn't it just be as easy to convert the B7TL engine to use Ad-Blue and get that MPG up.

The B9 is shorter than the B7 isn't it? Unless it's a special engine/chassis made up. They are talking of shedding 3 tonnes from it some how - and 2 + 1 seats upstairs may help that. Cant imagine they would do this work to the 36's just yet. They are in better condition, and have just spent some money doing them up - who knows what will happen in a couple of years though...

I doubt its a complete new chassis more like updated engine and drivetrain, I doubt they are going to seperate the body from chassis! Also the olympian is the firdt production olympian or atleast a very early one and was at keighley before
