Please use this thread to document any ways in which you think the forum can be improved. This is not intended to be a discussion thread - discussion can instead be done on the separate Thoughts About The Forum thread. Rather, this should be just used in the style of comment cards to list things you either love or hate about the forum and maybe suggestions for improvement, so that members' viewpoints can appear on a straight-forward list rather than buried among pieces of text.
This Suggestions Box is open to all members, young or old, regular posters and non-posters alike. If anyone has a comment or suggestion they don't wish to publicly air, please feel free to send a message to Craig or K1YRL.
Remember, the forum can only be improved if you tell us what you want to see!
Regards, Travel West Yorkshire Staff.

I think it would be better if on the home page it clearly states all the recent new posts.

Thanks for your comments so far.
A preservation/rally thread seems like a good suggestion, I'll have a look into that.
From the home page, each board (e.g. Buses, Gallery etc.) shows the most recent post within that board. Also, at the bottom of the home page where the member details are there is an option to view the 100 most recent posts. Hope this helps.

Maybe preservation and rallies could go with the "Yesteryear" board to prevent numerous boards in existence that are rarely used.
To note now as well, members who have made over 100 posts are now just a Forum Member than a "Driver" etc.

EDIT: As promised, please now find a new sub-board for preservation and rally news and information in the Yesteryear board.

Also, any quiet members who visit the forum but don't contribute, please, please tell us what prevents you from doing so.

Also, any quiet members who visit the forum but don't contribute, please, please tell us what prevents you from doing so. i reguard myself as a quiet member. To be honest i havn't got a clue when it comes to buses (except n113 striders), my yorkshire geography is appauling as im not from the area or ever lived there. I only use this forum so i can keep upto date with the Scania N113 Striders e.g. fleet or allocations. so when i do make a trip from south wales (try once a month) i kno where im going and what they work so i can enjoy some quality K-reg thrash ! ;D Thats all i use the forum for and its fantastic for that, credit to the regular users than answer all my quieries. cheers !

Perhaps after the "trash" (again the moderators words) threads that keep coming up, a thread where members can ask trivial questions.

I would like messages to be displayed by most recent first. Maybe I could set it for myself but I do not know how

A few comments below:
If possible, could it be made optional to display 'New' at the side of posts? When I log in, It feels like I have so many posts to get through, where as if it was optional, I would probably just take the time to read the posts that interest me.
Another topic is the Forum logo. Are there any plans to have a new logo that represents transport across West Yorkshire? As they sometimes say, 1 image speaks 1000 words, and I think when anybody enters the forum page, they should see a logo of what represents the forum. I liked the logo of the short-lived WYTF, as it combined all types of transport across the region as well as local road signs.
I don't really know much about Trains, quite simply as it isn't any interest to me, but I have seen a couple of trains with a branding/advertisement on the side with pictures of landmarks across West Yorkshire, and I thought maybe a few pictures like this would look good on the logo.
Thanks for taking the time to view all my comments and suggestions, and hope they are all of use.
Thanks, Jim.

Also, just looking and noticed that many of the posts in the 'General Chat' section are still transport related, and think these posts would be better suited in the 'Buses' section.

Just a quick question:
Craig/K1 YRL have you changed the formart of the home page as it looked a little plain? Looks like there is something missing.

"Dream Routes" will remain in the General chat as the Bus Travel board is for discussion of reality not fictitious networks. By all means, if you have a suggestion when a bus route is being changed where you think it could serve a better route, then feel free to say so of course with an explanation as to why.
At the bottom of the main page under all the links to each board. You can mark all messages as read once you have looked at the topics that are of interest to you.
The reason why it does look a bit empty the homepage is because Craig has removed the mod names in each board.

Further to Jack's post, there isn't an option to not display if threads are new or old but hopefully having logical thread titles (and keeping on topic!) will help people navigate to what they want to look at.
Unfortunately at present we don't have the resources nor time to develop a new forum logo and design etc. but this is a future aspiration. As the forum is no longer linked to the South Yorkshire forum we can no longer use the old designs.
Finally, the front page may look a tad different but all that has changed is the removal of listing the moderators for each individual board. This information was superfluous and out of date, and also is time consuming to update but with no real benefit, hence I have removed this.

Now that the South Yorkshire Forum has changed it's logo/banner to, Would it not be possible to use the old banner that was in place before the de-merger of this forum? Also another request, also from South Yorkshire Transport, how about a Resources section, this seems to be taking off really well on the South Yorkshire Forum and I'm sure it would do well on here. Thoughts?

Thanks for the suggestions South Yorkshire members on us copying the South Yorkshire forum. I will consider looking into the possibility of new logo and having a chat room added. However, for the time being Craig, nor myself will invest any time or money in the place when members don't get the hint on quality of posts, we're still having to edit numerous members posts due to poor spelling, grammar and punctuation etc. When the time comes when we no longer have to do this, we will consider implementing some changes.

I know the forum had a change a while ago, but a change of colour scheme would be good. We had Blue originally, and now Green, I was thinking a Red colour scheme would certainly freshen things up.

Been on other forum sites which when you clicked on a tread on the top of the first post there is a button you can clicked which go to first unread post. This could be useful as at the moment you have to go through older post on the tread before you get to the latest one

...Or display all unread posts at top of the page, that would be ideal.

On the right hand column under the heading latest post it will say for example "today at 1.43pm by K414MGN", clicking on today will take you to the latest post rather than reading all the old posts.

Just a quick one-maybe just keeping these announcements to the forum admin section. Many are now old(chat box)/out of date (page refreshing problems)/obvious (photo attaching) and moving them would mean less space taken up at the top of every page
