Does every independant you know of require to look at or invest in need to look at low floor deckers?
You seem to make out they do.
Heck, why dont they get some new LEDs on their preserved WYPTE/YR Olympians....

Long overdue. Wonder if a Solo will replace it ? Given that they're losing three diagrams on the 142/143 and one on the 780 with the subsidy dance in April, my guess is that they'll be thinning down the fleet rather than replacing anything. Maybe not (see the April service changes thread)

Maybe not (see the April service changes thread) The 104/110/111 is only a single diagram though, and as I said, I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the X70 and 412 being anything more than a couple of times a day.

Maybe the X70 is more of a feeder service for the X52/3 and Harrogate Locals (which are being picked up) similar to how Yorkshire Line run there X10 to save the dead milles. The 412 as Steve says i can't see being much more than couple of journeys maybe a journey in the Morning to York and a evening return as far as Tockwith (As Arriva run a short back from York to Tockwith on the evening which the Solo off the 21 isnt far infront of it)?

The X70 is a full all day service. The 412 runs about 4 or 5 times a day - no trip ends at Tockwith.
HCT will continue to operate on the 142/3.

N Thanks for confirmation on the trips, so will HCT run the 412/142/143's in competition with Eddie Brown then?

More importantly - why would NYCC have retendered the 412 and 142/3 if HCT were willing to operate them commercially?

Maybe HCT only made the decision to operate commercially after loosing the tender?

Maybe HCT only made the decision to operate commercially after loosing the tender? And I thought it was only the big boys that got accused of these tactics...

Didn't HCT set up a competing 415 service between Selby and York when they lost the 142/143 contract to Arriva some years ago?

Maybe HCT only made the decision to operate commercially after loosing the tender? What was I thinking. I assume there will be a clause written into the contract to the effect of NYCC being able to terminate the contract short at their discretion?

Whole spiders web of queries arises like if HCT can run the 142/3 commercially why did NYCC think it had to be funded and were NYCC receiving correct passenger counts. And if they do cancel the contract awarded to Eddie Browns how much will that cost (NYCC had to pay Blazefield for the cost of the vehicles they had purchased for the cancelled Craven & District contracts). Or is a case of that Eddie Browns have sub-contacted HCT to work them.

Didn't HCT set up a competing 415 service between Selby and York when they lost the 142/143 contract to Arriva some years ago? That's right. HCT had had the contract for the 142, and NYCC re-awarded a much bigger contract to Arriva, but the weekday service pattern was all over the place. HCT continued to operate about 4 journeys a day between York and Ripon in competition with Arriva, as well as going head-to-head with Arriva on the 415 between York and Selby. As passengers in Selby would rather let a cheap HCT bus go past and wait for an expensive Arriva one (although Barlby and Riccall it was the other way round!), they pulled it back to York—Designer Outlet intrapeak, and then to York—Designer Outlet only. By this stage, people living along the route of the 142/146 were thoroughly fed up with Arriva, and the farce of having commercial and tendered services run by different companies along the same route was becoming less and less tenable, and NYCC re-awarded the full contract to HCT. As it was evident that some journeys were commercially viable, these were excluded from the subsidy calculation but were stipulated as part of the overall contract. Subsidised journeys: 0800/0810/0815, 0915, 1215, 1315, 1515, 1610/1615 and 1815 from Ripon 0640, 0940, 1040, 1340, 1440, 1640 and 1740 from York plus short workings to Ripon.

If they are replacing P817REX with a Solo for the tendered Harrogate local services what are they going to use for cover on the Wharfe connexions as well as the Harrogate locals and 21.
