Arriva already have split all the route crossing wakefield 102 104 105 110 443/444 Yes there are no cross Wakefield services now. Pretty poor when you consider that there used to be such routes as Dewsbury to Pontefract, Leeds to Barnsley, Leeds to Hemsworth etc. I understand why, though I'm not convinced, but it does cut down on convenience and usually means two buses to reach some destinations including Pinderfields Hospital. Less through routes = more fares?

Max is no longer used, neither is frequenta but according to Arriva's website the Sapphire brand is still used. I believe that when it was originally conceived it was for high quality, high frequency (better than every 20 minutes) services. Wasn't the first use between Chester and Wrexham?

There have been some modest improvements since 3rd September with revised service 103/111 serving City Fields (previously unserved for the most part) and the Ferry Lane area of Stanley every 30 minutes in each direction making it 4 per hour in effect to Wakefield Bus station and includes a reduced evening service. I understand this is developer funded via the council. Lets hope it gets used.

Interesting to see that Arriva is attempting to serve more of the City Fields development by new service 103 and rerouting service 147, though just exactly what route the 103 will take isn't clear from their timetable. They have a new map near top of the web page:- www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/service-changes-in-wakefieldSo there is. Completely missed that. Thanks.

Anyone know if the commanders are due to be replaced anytime soon? Seeing as practically I think theres only one left in Arriva in the north west now, surely Yorkshires should be the next to go? Just seems Arriva in Yorkshire has been quite quiet with any fleet replacements ect. As other arriva networks have had new buses this year. I've heard from several people that Arriva are wanting to sell there Yorkshire operations. It's been a common rumor for a while now. As the whole of Arriva is currently for sale I doubt this. If they were not profitable they would cease as they have recently in Cheshire.

Small point. Your link to the 1D route map takes you to a Bus Times timetable. Otherwise a work of art so far.

Continuing off topic.......the best place for LBA to relocate would be Church Fenton which comes with ready made railway links from Leeds, York, Wakefield, Doncaster, Sheffield and Hull.

Sorry! Only ever seen them on Pontefract routes so assumed they were allocated to Castleford.

Looks like at least two Tempos may have been transferred to Belle Isle as 1309 and another unidentified example (no fleet number on rear) were working services 195/196 in Wakefield yesterday.

The list keeps getting shorter. Does anybody know which depot operates the contracted 113 Dewsbury Hospital to Pontefract Hospital via Pinderfields Hospital that was taken on when CT Plus collapsed?

The 446 is running instead of the 444 as the 446 now serves the centre of Rothwell.

That could be because they can't sugar coat the cuts in the Wakefield area.

The X80 would have been better serving City Fields and then turning right into Wakefield via Doncaster Road but I suppose the idea was to provide a direct bus from Normanton to Leeds in the peak as the 189 only runs between Castleford and Wakefield these days (a mistake in my opinion).

Some of the Arriva cuts are quite staggering. The evening service on the 444 is cut completely leaving Lee Moor, Ouzlewell Green and Carlton without any bus service whatsoever. That leaves only the 446 serving Stanley and Rothwell and makes evenings out by bus a complete non-starter with only an hourly service. Also the last bus now leaves Wakefield at 2220, earlier than ever before. How long will it be before the 446 is gone as 'nobody is using it'? Also the last vestiges of services from Pontefract and Castleford to Doncaster have disappeared completely and we seem to be left with an isolated from the rest of Arriva's network service 51 running from Doncaster to Askern. How reliable is that going to be. No doubt the Arriva dead milage will increase again. All this whilst the Mayors are trying to increase bus travel!

Arriva's Wakefield travel centre never reopened after the lockdowns as far as I know and has been in the hands of Caledonian Travel for some time so there is zero chance of Metro opening a travel centre there. Caledonian Travel do NOT provide any information for local services and are purely interested in marketing their own tours. An electronic device has been provided by Metro but how it works and what information it provides I have no idea as I haven't attempted to use it. You have to wonder why Caledonian Travel don't want to provide local information. After all once you're in their shop you may decide to book one of their tours.

Obviously they should all be X1 as that is what the service now is. I think yesterdays 435 must have been a blip. However, I am baffled by Team Pannine's decision to make all the route variations 'X1' for simplicity but then to qualify by letters in the timetable, variations of that route. Surely this shoots the simplified route in the foot. In my opinion those journeys which differ from the X1 route should have a different route number so that passengers can easily understand the route variation.

Friday afternoon I passed an X1 running from Holmfirth to Wakefield (an ex Tiger Optare Tempo in full Team Pennine livery) but on Saturday a 435 appeared running in the same direction (a Tiger liveried Tempo). Should it be an X1 or a 435? Perhaps it depends on which livery your bus has!
