Ive noticed that the Mylleniums are starting to look a little shabby. I think they would look good in the two tone Green livery.
Also the Centros have gained fleet numbers. They are: 419-424.

Looks good, ive always like the Gemini and Iam look forward to seeing one of these new look buses when they are built later in the year.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but there have been a couple of breakdowns in Huddersfield the last couple of days. On the 29/05/08 First Bus 31269 (F91JYS) had broken down at Storthes Hall student village while working the 398 shuttle service. It had to be towed back to the depot. davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p50829306.htmlWhile today 31/05/08, Arriva 519 (M695HPF) had broken down at Huddersfield bus station while working the 229 to Leeds. It had to be towed away as well. davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p50851603.htmlDavid.c

Yeh I can confirm that the first two Centros, YJ08DWL/DWN have entered service. I managed to get a ride on one of them and very nice they are to. The next pair have arrived at the depot now. These are YJ08DWK and DWM. I went to get pictures of them today and these can be found here: davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/c1515153.htmlI assume the final two will arrive next week. David.c

That will explain this then davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p50637084.htmlYJ08DWN and YJ08DWL. Sore them this morning as I passed the depot on the bus into Huddersfield so headed back to Waterloo this afternoon to get some pictures. They look really nice and I carnt wait to see the rest and to see them in service. I take it they are to receive some sort of route branding or livery? David.c

No, thats a window replacement leaving a gap in the route branding.
Thats the problem with putting anything over the windows, ether route branding or adverts. All is well till one of the windows is broken and replaced.
Huddersfield based Eclipse Urban 66741 carries an advert for the punctuality of the buses in Huddersfield covering half the bus top to bottom. It was recently operating with half this advert missing due to it having had windows replaced. Its taken a while for it to gain back the bits of the advert that where missing.
Route branding is worse. Whats the point of having it all over the windows only for it to have windows replaced but never having the branding re-done. It leaves a bus carrying incomplete route branding which is useless for everyone.

The latest issue of BUSES magazine helps to explain things.
CentreBus have created CentreBus Holdings and it is them who have acquired both Stagecoach Huddersfield and K-Line. They own non of the other CentreBus operations.
They are operating the Stagecoach operation as The Huddersfield Bus Company, a longer term name is being looked into. K-Line will stay as it is at the moment.

Preston Bus have become the first operator to place an Optare Solo SR into service. PN08SVK, fleet number 1, entered service on Monday (19th May) on one of the 2 park&ride routes that Preston Bus operate. davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p50611729.html8 are due altogether and are all to be put into service on the 2 P&R routes. These will replace the current P&R Solos which will be cascaded into the normal fleet replacing the last of the Metroriders. David.c

I have seen some new buses with non yorkshire registration numbers and all white are they demonstrators or what? Its been mentioned twice already in this thread that Plain White MCV Evolution/Dennis Dart SLF PL06TGF is currently in operation with The Huddersfield Bus Company. Its from the Blue Bus (Preston) hire fleet. Not sure why its here but likely to be filling in while other thing are sorted out. I have not seen any other hire buses as yet. Most of the other Stagecoach buses have gained Orange "Huddersfield Bus" wording. David.c

Ive taken recent pictures of both Loonat Coaches and Pauls Travel/Sunny Travel vehicles and had no problems.
They carnt stop people from taking pictures of their buses. Some drivers are against it and show that when you take a picture of the bus they are driving. But a howl company going against it is going a little to far.

There has been little mention of any of this taking over business from the companies involved. Last I heard Stagecoach and Arriva where still in talks with each other. Obviously things have moved on a lot since then.
I can say though that CentreBus liveried Dennis Dart P28MLE was at the Stagecoach depot at Waterloo this afternoon. Also there was an MCV Evolution from the Blue Bus hire fleet.

At the moment its business as usual. Been out this morning into Huddersfield and the only thing ive noticed is a lot of the Stagecoach buses have lost their Stagecoach branding. I haven't noticed the legal lettering on any of them yet but I think this should have changed.
I got a few pics of some of the Stagecoach buses while I was out. Theses are now on my site, link in my signature below.

Is there likely to be any major changes on Monday or is it going to be a gradual take over. But then what changes are there going to be? Is this just a take over on paper or are there going to be changes with the fleet?
Stagecoach haven’t had the greatest of success in Huddersfield. It will be interesting to see what Arriva do with the services.

This all explains why I have seen some of the Eclipse Urbans in Huddersfield now with out their Purple Line branding. Sore one yesterday that only had the coloured area at the bottom of the front window left. Others have had the large number in the circle on the side of the bus removed. I'll have a better look at these buses tomorrow.
Like other people on here I carnt understand why there are so many routes for this batch of services.

Today (08/04/08) First Huddersfield Eclipse Urban 66750 (YJ05KOB) again, this time working the 328 Lime line. It carries Yellow line branding. davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p49596260.htmlFirst Halifax Eclipse Urban 66779 (YJ05VVY) working the 503 Orange line in place of the normal Gemini. This bus carries branding for Halifax's Green line. davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p49596262.htmlDavid.c

An improvement on the Leeds-Harrogate-York line wouldnt go a miss i am getting sick and tired of getting on board a old Class 142/144. Class 158'S wouldnt go a miss on this route and with the Tinshill Station in planning (old quarry site) it is certainly time for an improvment 4 car 150s have been in use on this line for a while. 142s and 144s may still get used from time to time but the 150s should be the regular type of DMU on the Harrogate line now. Last time I was at York station there was a 158 parked in the bay platform used by the Harrogate services. Not sure if this was on the service though. David.c

I don't know whether anybody else has noticed, but Metro have installed signs showing bus drivers their speed in the Bus Stations. Huddersfield had a temporary speed radar set up for a couple weeks a while ago. Its been sat in the corner of the car park bays out of use recently. A painted walk way has been put in as well along the front of the bus layover bays. So all the drivers have to leave the bus station through the side door by stand z then follow the walk way to get to the buses. No one is allowed to cross the main bus area. These are safety measures that need to be taken up at Preston Bus station where its a free for all between the buses and the pedestrians. Ive seen a number of close calls there over the years yet people still dice with the buses. David.c

Theres a small article in the latest issue of Bus & Coach buyer about the possible take over of the Stagecoach Huddersfield operation by Arriva. Arriva have approached Stagecoach and talks have been held with the relevant people as well as the staff at the depot. But nothing has been signed yet and its business as normal for now.

The current issue of BUSES mag has 6 E300s still comming to Huddersfield, 22558-22563. Could they be waiting till the 1st March before putting them into service? This would put them onto 08 plates.
Shafton are to have 22535-22544, while Doncaster are to have 22545-22557.
