At the last count I think they had 37645 to about 656. After the first 10 or so had been delivered Wrightbus resumed production of the large batch of B9TL for Manchester.
The next delivery to Leeds is expected shortly and will comprise the remainder to complete full conversion of 56. These will then be followed by those for the 96 and then last of all will be the leather seated examples for X84.

Once the remainder of the current order for 41 Geminis & 4 Eclipses have been delivered then further withdrawl of high floor single deckers (most if not all Darts & some Scanias) will take place.
Some of the Scanias in better condition will probably survive a bit longer (see my message on the Leeds Scania Movements thread about 61095).
However, also on the hit list are the 'Boston Spa Olympians' which I assume are the J-YRM's.

Apparently 61095 is expected to receive a new MOT for another 12 months service. Some of the batch have suffered from cracks in the chassis and these can only be welded so many times.
61095 must be one of the better examples.

has 61083,61085,61086,61087,61090,61091,61092 been withdrawn yet if there still in service, i will drop all my plans & go up there for the rest of the week ! also are these to be scrapped ? or cascaded down to a differernt area?? any information would be much appreicated ! Yes, they were withdrawn on the 18th/19th Jan and replaced at Hunslet Park by those already listed. I had 61086 on Sat night on the 23:30 Otley to Leeds X84 (sorry Nick) and it gave a belting performance as we thrashed through Bramhope and onwards to Leeds. At the moment they are destined for scrap due to First's policy of not selling on the market and the fact there's nowhere in the group to place them. They don't seem to hang around long now either once withdrawn as 61093 was withdrawn on 12th Jan and collected by PVS breakers on Mon 19th. Some of Bramley's in the 611xx region are due off shortly. On a brighter note all remaining Scania 'deckers were out in normal service today (Tues) although to be honest 36930 in particular is not the best example and has sounded ropey for a while now.

Leeds Geminis 32456-462 are shortly to receive branding for the new 40/40A. Most are also being repainted first.
As a result of the new Geminis at Cherry Row ALX400's 30929-938 have gone to Bramley. These have enabled some Striders to go to Hunslet Park to replace similar Striders which have been withdrawn over the weekend. 61093 withdrawn a bit earlier was collected by PVS today (Monday).

Has anyone seen which Buses Geldards have allocated to there New 28B Clarence Dock - Leeds - Headingley service which was to commence operation today? I noticed one of their recently acquired Optare Spectras on it heading towards Clarence Dock complete with 1 passenger.

It was a good day for Scania 'decker fans with 31097 & 36932 being the resident buses on the 760 Leeds- Shipley. Fantastic! Also, 31092 was on 51A, and 36922 (F reg!) was on 33A.
Most of Bramley's S-NUG Olympians were also out on 33 including 30244 with East Lancs top deck
East Lancs SD 61134 was on 96 and the Moortown area was awash with 49 branded Geminis on 2/3/12 etc. All in all an interesting day for those looking out for the unusual!
(Sorry folks, I posted this under the mis-allocation thread in error originally)

These are not really mis-allocations as only Bramley buses were being used on Boxing Day but they are interesting all the same :

The changes on Leeds routes 40/50/50A mean that these services will no longer interwork and will operate independant of each other although I've not seen the full details.
Service 40 is due to be operated by branded Gemini's, probably some taken from 32431-452 but not confirmed yet.

Yes it did, well spotted. I was just making sure everyone's awake!
I was going from memory and of course 36924 went to Glasgow at least a year ago. I've checked the records and 61083 has an engine taken from one of 36925,935,936,938,950,951 all of which went to PVS breakers at Barnsley about 2/3 months ago.

61083 has as engine taken from a withdrawn Black Prince Scania double deck. Not sure which one but it was one of a couple that were sold to a scrap dealer a while back minus their engines, think 36924 (the Anchor butter allover ad) was one of them.
Performance shouldn`t be any different as the Scania N113CRB (single deck) and N113DRB (double deck) use the same Scania DS11 engine rated at 257 hp although this particular engine will of course be 3/4 years older than the bus.
Any underperformance is probably related to either the engine not being in tip top condition or a poor installation job.

? The first 36 isn't due into Leeds until 0558 and that is not a "36" vehicle as it then works the first 770 from Leeds. The first genuine 36 is due at 0628. The website was updated at 5pm (typical !) and the vast majority of services are shown as running - 36s included and 770s with a diversion direct along the A661 between H'gate and Wetherby Could it of been the 1st bus to depart Leeds? This may be unconnected to the weather conditions as on Wednesday evening the last 36 from Leeds due to depart at 2315 had encountered a mechanical problem in the bus station rendering it unservicable. The bus and passengers was moved to stand 1 to await a replacement bus which was to be sent out from Harrogate. It's possible the failed Gemini was still there next morning.

A follow up to the previous message is that 32439 is only temporarily without it's guide wheels and should have them refitted by the end of the week.

For the benefit of anybody who keeps records of such things it appears Bramley Gemini 32439 has lost it's guide wheels, noted today on the 49 with just the guide arms in place.
I also noted ALX400 30943 back on it's old haunts on the 50 and this appears to have re-gained it's guide wheels. It may be recalled that 30941-944 lost their guide wheels earlier this year.
The loss of guide wheels on 32439 breaks the neat sequence, 32431-452 all of which were so equipped for services 40/50.

This would have been the Leeds Bus Survey.
Leeds City Council & Metro are looking at ways of improving public transport in Leeds and these people in 'high viz' were handing out a questionnaire for passengers to complete on the bus. There were about 15 questions to answer such as 'Where have you just come from' and 'Was a car available for this journey' etc...etc.
The survey took place on a number of services, 2, 12, 49 amongst those I witnessed myself.

Sorry for the incorrect information I gave last Sunday re 30812. Turns out it couldn't be spared for the paint shops due to a vehicle shortage at Hunslet Park so it's still out and about.
On a different note, the few 56 branded ALX400's have been called in for the branding to be removed over the next couple of weeks. This is in advance of new buses due for this service at the back end of this year.

K&D 662-branded B7 1802 on Oakworth/Bracken Bank services today, possibly a replacement for another bus though. Does the Green Line route in Bradford (645) get a type of bus allocated, or is it anything goes? Also, is it the only Overground route in Bradford without route branding? Green Line 645 is any guide wheel fitted B7TL or B9TL. With the Blue Line recently receiving branding then yes the Green Line is the only one left to do I'm almost certain it was mentioned earlier this year that 37055-8/60-62 would be branded for the Green Line. This, of course didn't happen but 7 new B9TL's (37360-6) have very recently arrived at Bowling Back Lane and it could be that these will be done instead.

I've been told today (Sunday) that 30812 has been requested for a visit to the paintshop this week, possibly Monday. That, then will be the end of Barbie 2 in Leeds. It was still in service on Saturday.
31092 was repainted about 4 weeks ago.

Well that's cleared that one up. Have they been around for long then, as I say it is only this week I noticed these two. What information do they display, just the next bus or up to 2 or 3 next buses? The first one I noticed was on North Parkway and think it was about late spring. Usually real time for the next 2 or 3 departures is shown.

It was the 20/21 route which interworked with the 52B - but most of the time it was a DAF ALX300 allocation... Anyway, we are straying a little from the original topic, so to try and bring it back can I reiterate my question - can the source of this rumour be made known? I'm not sure where this rumour originated but it's certainly 'doing the rounds' within First Leeds depots. My knowledge so far is as follows, and I don't mind in the slightest if you don't believe a word because I'm bordering on being a non-believer myself, at least until any evidence comes to light. The Challenger Leeds operation would be run by a brother of one of the Directors of the London op and would be based (wait for it) at the old First Kirkstall Rd depot which NCP reckon to have some involvement with already. One Leeds union official even says he knows the new Company would be offering drivers an hourly rate of £9.72 which I doubt a new Company could afford unless it was being cross subsidised from the broader empire. If I hear anything else I'll post it but at the moment all the above is, as far as I'm concerned just rumour, although it is an elaborate one, so could have some foundation.

Wasn't there talk of Leeds getting some ex-London Dennis Tridents? Gossip was circulating earlier this year within the Company that Leeds were getting a number of second hand low floor 'deckers from London for service 96 but I don't think it was specified if they would be Trident or B7TL. It's all gone quiet on this now anyway.

Members may recall 32455 was involved in a de-roofing incident a few weeks back. Well, just to provide an update, it's still in Bramley and parts have now been removed (headlights, panels etc) although it's not written off. It's down to the legal people to decide on the next move.

Hot on the heels of First 36930 which has just undergone MOT and repaint, along with a new gearbox, 31092 entered the paintshops on Thurs afternoon. I, personally think these are superb buses and think it's such a shame the majority have left the fleet.
Single deck Scania 61083 (8605) has been off the road now for some time and is awaiting an engine from a suitable doner.

The re-numbering of the Olympians is to eliminate duplication of fleet numbers within the group. The 94x series of Olympians clashed with the Harrogate & Dist school bus Dennis Javelins.
