Rumour has it that Hunslet Park depot are due 40 new buses during 2009.
I wonder what these could be. It is about time that the depot does get some new vehicles even though the demography of what was Kirkstall terratory proves that low floor vehicles are not a priority for such routes.

If brand new they'll be wrights, can see it being split quite evenly between double and single deckers.
But route allocation is rather poor down there and the buses wont stay on their allocated routes as proven with the Red & Blue lines.

Would imagine all the Wright Singles will replace all striders, and flowlines. Also with the recent apperance of the Wright Urbans on the Route 1, this could be the start of things.
If like Kendall said they are split evenly, 20 Double could replace the ALX400 and some Olympians.

Hi
Well I got told in Bramley garage yesterday that up to 20 new wrights (A mix of Single and Double decks) will be heading there way for the 16/16A service which is due an upgrade due to the fact that they dont have enough Low floor buses for the route allocation at present.
Also there is a consultation process coming up in November with First and passengers who use the 16/16A services.

And Cherry Row are due 20 deckers as well for the 56 unless these vehicles are getting diverted to Bramley?
I suppose this could enable the 04 plate Geminis at Bramley to move onto the 40/50/50A so they get a full allocation of them which would leave the ALX400s to get used on Boston Spa school runs which have the age profile set to ten years old at most on the vehicles used.

Its good to see that First are rumoured to be investing what will be some serious cash into leeds and it obviously repays then in cash turnover.
The 16 & 49 need new buses as they get anything whats spare which could soon be ALX400s which come off the 56.
The striders & remaining darts need replacing.
The Bramley schools should get new buses that are garunteed to last 10years instead of getting those that are being replaced and getting buses every year when the buses used become 10years old.

Also there is a consultation process coming up in November with First and passengers who use the 16/16A services. Are there any specific proposals by First for this consultation? Also a while back the 2/3/12/13 group were also due a consultation, but not sure if this is still ongoing or indeed whether any change to route, vehicle type etc will happen..?

Yep the last I heard, Is that First have new buses on order that are coming to Bramley for the 16’s and they are thinking about dropping the off-peak 16A Journeys so to make a half hourly service instead of the current split hourly services. Just like they did with the off-peak 4/4A before the FTR's arrived.
The Farsley - Rodley - Bramley Section would as I understand be covered by an a new off-peak44A service. Which would mean the withdrawal of the current houly 44's running from Bramley - Swinnow and Pudsey . The Leeds to Bramley section would be maintined. I don’t think this would be too bad of a move as when I have been on that section of route hardly anyone uses it.
But as you know Metro will have the final say as the off-peak 44's are funded.
On the other note about the 2/3/12/13's. look what happened when that consultation took place. Brand new Volvo B9TL's turned up at Cherryrow. The routes all went low-floor instead of been a mix of Volvo XLX400's and Scania 113's. Also the overground colour branding changed while the timetables where also amended.

The new buses to CRG are due towards the end on November 08, these should then release the currentl ALX400's to be transfered to Hunslet. This will in turn release Alexander RH/Olympians to be transfered to Bramley for the schools unit. The ALX400's are possibley destined to be used on the 33/33a service.
Early 09 new buses are due @ Hunslet. These should be for the 757's (singles) & X84's (doubles) with leather interiors. If I have heard correctly, the remainder of the 09 buses due @ Hunslet are to enable Red/Blue line to be full Gemini run. The replaced ALX400's are then possibly for the 96 service.
If I have heard correctly, the Scania/Striders & Alexander & Plaxton Darts are the next buses due for withdrawal, with the remnants of the Scania doubles due. The leased Olympians I guess would be going soon too.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me. First are wanting to upgrade the X84 service to a FULL Double decker operation as well as having leather seats on board. Are we sure that these wont just end up on the 2/12 combination. Anyway it will be fun to see what happens over the next few months (into early next year) because not only are 40 new buses coming to Hunslet, new buses for the 56 and also the arctics from York. Should be a fun couple of months. And by the way it would be nice to see a Alexander RH-Olympian on the 16 or 49. EDIT: Is the same to have Leeds a full Wright (as in Gemini and Urban)Operation by 2010?

If you are including the older Wrights such as the Axcess Ultralows there is currently approximately 213 (45%) Wrights at First Leeds and 260 (55%) Others (Alexanders, Plaxtons, Leylands, East Lancs, BMCs & Optares)
So there's not as many as it may seem

It has been reported on YDBN that Leeds are to get 41 new B9TLs next year which have been allocated fleetnumbers 37645-85. This includes the 20 or so for the 56 and 10 or so for the X84. Would the rest end up being used to fully convert the Dewsbury Roads into full Gemini operation.

O dear ! looks like i will have to make the most of the next coming months for my beloved 61086 & the rest of the scania striders. Once the new buses are put in place does anyone know is cascading a more of a likely option than the dreaded scrap yard. cheers

Well I think the ALX400s on the 56 could be going to Bramley for use on the Boston Spa schools. The B7TLs made available from the new buses for the 16 would remain at Bramley as they may possibly be requiring more low floor deckers if they keep the lengthened 40 service.
The B7TLs displaced from the Red and Blue Lines being fully run by Geminis I believe will remain at Hunslet Park for the upgrade of the 33/33A.
When Hunslet Park openned, wasn't there plans for the PVR to increase so a one in one out policy wouldn't happen. So your beloved Striders will have some more years left in them.

You just have to hope that all this investment is paying its way already, otherwise see some lovely fare increases because of 'fuel prices rocketing'.

I’ve heard a nice new rumour today in the garage. The new buses for the 16's wont be coming until late summer. Instead some of are ex Alexander Royale's are heading back home to Bramley from Hunslet Park.

Well the WYPTA agenda paper about the January changes mentions 73 new buses for Leeds, so quite alot for the city and must be the largest investment for some years.

An order worth £7.4m has been placed for 41 double-deckers and 4 single deckers to be used on the East Leeds Guideway Service 56 (Whinmoor-Moor Grange), and Service 96 (Leeds-Cookridge via Headingley). Some of these buses will also be used on Service X84 (Leeds-Skipton via Otley and Ilkley) and will have the latest in leather seating for customer comfort. A further 23 single deckers worth £3.1m will be ordered through 2009 and placed on other routes in Leeds. This taken from www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/yorkhumber/leeds/news/index.php?item=4401&show=1

I wonder if the enhanced 74, 86 and 91/91A are to benefit from these other 23 single deck buses?
