I imagine “I’ve heard that Arriva are selling up” will be the answer, and that discussion will start up again I have to say a councillor making a brief comment in the local press seems to have been blown up out of all proportion here. He probably just means that the mayor will make another vague promise about buses being put in public control at some stage in the future, rather than anything specific happening short term. Do you feel a bit of a fool today ? 🧐 Why would they? Arriva has not sold up. Arriva has been sold (well, an agreement to sell next year if all regulators are happy). Arriva will continue all its current operations unless and until the new owners make any decisions about changes.

Unsure weather it is a Bus Service improvement but there is a few stand changes happening. Don't have the list or anything but I know the X1 and 107 will depart from Stand 9 and the 59s and 96s will depart from stand 10. They are the few I noticed

Good idea about the 96s and 59s goin from stand 10 cos everytime I'm in wakefield bus station there's always an abandoned 118 or 425 on stand 18, very rarely can you get onto correct stand

On a related note, my son asked me the other day if he could get a bus from Wakefield Bus Station to the J32/Xscape complex at Glasshougton. I was very surprised to see there isn’t one, unless anyone knows otherwise?
Seems odd not to have a bus service there from the biggest town in the local area. We had the X32 but nothing appears to have replaced it.

It's only hourly, with no evening service and 3 trips on a Sunday, whilst there's buses every 15 minutes (hourly evenings and Sundays) Pontefract - J32 - Leeds.

It does, but at 75 minutes from Wakefield to Glasshoughton on a very circuitous route it's hardly an appealing prospect – the train takes less than half that, even though you spend longer waiting at Castleford for a connection than you do actually on the train. A bus running direct via Normanton could probably do the journey in 35 minutes.

Thanks for the replies on the 186 service. Can’t believe it takes well over an hour to get from Wakefield to Xcsape!

The idea is, services running along the same corridors are grouped together if that was the case 100, 101 & 212 would be at different stands as they dont cover common corridors at all; 100 should go from near 102/103 and 101 from near 118 & 425 whilst 212 in theory can share stand with 104 as that's close to 268 as it is.
