Saw 723 on 109 yesterday at ASDA around 1230 with a new destination display same as other buses rather than the static display if i remember rightly some of the step entrance spectras had them blinds. They'll have upgraded it to the newer Hanover ones like Dewsbury had done with 57 & 58 before they were withdrawn. I also believe 717 over at YT Elland has the same style now too

Surely 1001 and 1005 cannot be on the 163/189? Surely that is some sort of a joke, according to the tracker these buses are and these buses are both reliable when it gets tracked as I know there isnt any other bus being tracked as 1001 and 1005, as I've seen them recently, but surely they cant be put on 2 busy Leeds routes.

Remember the deckers have a covid capacity of 20 and the lil e200s 10 so that's room for 30 passengers as well as 2 wheelchairs or 2 pushchairs/buggies

I suppose it can't be that bad in that respect then.

Spotted 1001 running as a duplicate with an E400 earlier but only 1001 was tracking on Bus Times. It perhaps can't deal with two buses running on the same service and just picks one to show on the site.

As bus times have been tracking a lot of single decker dupes on the 163/166/189. Although it appears on bus times some single deckers are being tracked, then have a break, then start being tracked again Are bus drivers allowed to drive with the door open as well? Just seen a tempo go past the driver had the doors open Not having a go, just a curious question, as I certainly can understand the driver doing it in this weather.

Although with the tempos, I notice some drivers open the doors before the bus reaches the stop sometimes, you can't do that on the commanders though.

Once took a Tempo on 187, had its doors open from Sylvester Ave in Normanton to the old Horse and Groom pub, driver only shut them because someone got on, boiling day though

It is, and always has been law, that the doors must be closed when in motion on ANY bus. This was probably altered when back loaders ceased to be. When of course it was do not board or alight whilst vehicle is in motion. Admitted most of us have probably done it on hot Summers days, but it is illegal. Certainly on an Optare City Pacer, if you did not have the door open you would have died from heat exhaustion.

I bet most of the older generation of bus drivers (me included with 19.5 years in the industry), will have in the past, driven buses with the doors open in summer, to aid air flow. I know I did on Olympians, Lances, Lynx, Arrows, Metro Rider, in fact any bus that didn't have anything that buzzed to indicate doors open or locked the doors while vehicle is in motion, same when stopping to alight/board, you had the door open before you stopped, something you can't do now, or have to put handbrake on before opening doors, yes, it may only be a couple of seconds to put the handbrake on, press door open button.

Well I know for a fact on the Tempos there are some drivers who still open the doors before the bus stops, I know this because I've seen drivers do it. I know on the commanders you need the handbrake on to open the doors.

I did say that most of us have done it at some time. The other one is, how many times have people dropped passengers off at places other than stops?? I have in 41 years in the job, and dealt with the aftermath in ten years as a shop steward/Branch Secretary as well. On the qt, just don't get caught!!!!!!

I remember once ending up on the X67 from Bradford one evening instead of the 662, cos i just saw the back end of an Olympian when heading to the stop in the Interchange and not checking the desty first.
Luckily i had a Metrocard, but the driver did us a solid and dropped me at Cottingley Bar instead of making me wait till Bingley and i was able to get a 662 heading the other way to get to Saltaire.
As for driving with the doors open, happened all the time when i was younger. Me and my mates used to jump off while the bus was still moving if the doors were open (or the driver opended them before coming to a complete stop). Was quite a leap from floor level on a Rider 62xx or 63xx Atlantean!!!

From what I've seen it tends to be the older drivers who do it on the Tempos, I presume these must be old school drivers, who might have driven the Lynxes and Alx 400's at Cas or the Striders or buses even older, which makes a lot of sense.
