I'm currently in Leeds City Centre and Whitehall Road is nose to tail with traffic, including buses.
I know it has always been a busy road, but I've never seen it like this before. Hardly moving, and that's a Sunday night!
I'm not sure if this is traffic that would have previously gone via city square, but whatever it is: Leeds City Council have ballsed up majorly somewhere.
If they intend on keeping it this way, then they need to figure out a way to get buses through onto Wellington Street instead (via the lifeless corporate offices that are springing up in that area.

Could be linked to the recent burst water main under Wellington Bridge, was supposed to re-open yesterday but I wonder if the works have over ran, or they've had to return to do something?

I Think traffics still being told to avoid using West Street roundabout due to last minute roadworks,so i'm assuming people are using Whitehall Road to get out of the city rather than using Wellington St.

All train station traffic has to go down Whitehall Road now, plus LUFC being at home wont have helped

'Outbound buses ... will now be using Infirmary Street...'. Surely there should be a new topic called Disconnecting Leeds, as this is a further move case of Leeds City Council moving all buses from being an easy step to Leeds railway station.

Work on the junctions or Whitehall Road/Whitehall Quay/Aire Street/Thirsk Row and Wellington Street/King Street are starting on the 21st. Thirsk Row will temporarily be down to one lane, so expect even more delays. I don't see how they're going to fit two lanes northbound, one southbound (as planned), and improve (or at least not make worse) the crossing points. One up one down makes more sense, as in the future you'll be able to exit the station north via Aire Street and Wellington Street, so you won't need to turn south unless you want to head up King Street (the right turn from Wellington Street will be banned).
It's a bit like an episode of Soap sometimes...

If you thought Whitehall Road and Aire Street was bad now, in a few days the taxi rank is being relocated to the back door entrance as well
So you’ve got ‘hackney’ taxis, private hire taxis and people doing drop offs, plus general traffic and buses all having to use Whitehall Road
I wouldn’t be surprised if Arriva issue a threat, either sort it or we will start terminating on Park Row

It worked ok if you didn't need the service to serve Whitehall Rd!!! The latest pedestrianisation and road closures are a complete disaster for Leeds city centre and Leeds City Council are intent in killing-off the city centre....spending so much money on these schemes and yet the council and WYCA cannot save all these bus services have have been cut over the last two years?! Thousands of car parking spaces have been removed and yet there is absolutely no alternative if you need to be in the city for work early morning or late evening commuting from many suburbs in Leeds now...never mind weekends and yet all park and ride services but the PR3 don't run weekends nor weekens and no bus service in the evenings and Sundays to many suburbs to and from town in Leeds now!
