A Facebook site is reporting that Go Ahead have ordered a quantity of long wheel base Streetlites to operate the 227 and 358 from the Metrobus garage at Orpington. The order is apparently the first to be placed for a LWB variant of the model.

You can get a Steetlite any longer than the Max which First and Go-ahead run. There must have been some assurances from Wrights over reliability using the Euro 6 Daimler engine.

There are comments on the Facabook page about the suitablility of engines on some of the "hills" that these buses will operate on. There are also a number of comments, both good, bad and ugly, concerning the the Streetlite as a vehicle.

The Daimler powered Streetlites have been a lot more reliable than the same engined Streetdecks but consequently have suffered more total failures instead. The Cummins Max 63001-63037 at FSY have proved reliable and up to the job, but they did have the gearboxes set up for Sheffield. Driving wise very few like them, heavy steering and the small wheels leads to backache.

Go-Ahead do now have 13 Streetlite Max buses on order for route 227. None for route 358, which I think will keep its emergency Scanias alongside the main fleet of Citaros until its next tender.
