Many questions still to be answered
What if anything will cover the current 221 route between Heckmondwike and Batley and between Heckmondwike and Mirfield What if anything will cover the current 222 route between Heckmondwike and Gomersal What route will the 228 take. Will Leeds Old Road between Birstall and Heckmondwike still be served by the 229 Renumbering the 220 etc as the 200/201 of course makes sense as along with the 202/203 that could be a combined every 7/8 min service as far as White Rose

X25 afternoon journeys are also withdrawn

Good to see the 229 speeded up. Sounds a bit like the old 219 from many years ago.
Like westyorkshirebus I think renumbering the services that serve Morley town centre to 200,201 series makes sense. It lines them up with 202/203 and will help better market the Leeds-Dewsbury Road-White Rose Centre corridor as high frequency for Arriva. They could possibly complete this block of services by renumbering 117/217 into 204 and 204A
I'll miss 220.
Does anyone know how the changes affect Heckmondwike's PVR? If there's a slight decrease it maypave the way for withdrawal of the Lowlanders allocated there.

My mate at Hecky has confirmed that they will be taking back on First Bradford's Mon-Fri 256's and also First Huddersfield's Sunday Evening 229's.
Just looking back through this thread, could the 213, be extended from Batley to Heckmondwike via part of the current 221 route and miss out Dale Lane, cos, it would then provide that side with a service.

Maybe the 228 could run between Huddersfield and Brighouse via Mirfield, Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton replacing both the 220 & 221?

Never understood the obsession with providing a service to Hunsworth and Brighouse from Cleckheaton when at off peak times these buses carry nothing but fresh air.

Never understood the obsession with providing a service to Hunsworth and Brighouse from Cleckheaton when at off peak times these buses carry nothing but fresh air. Over previous years, the residents would get a petition up when they found out that their service was getting withdrawn. This petition via the local councillor would have about 2000 names to it, demanding that they SHOULD have a service. Every time, Metro would agree to pay for a service to run, then around 2012, or was it 2013, Metro decided they weren't gonna pay for a big bus. So, it was agreed that Arriva would run 256 at peak times only, and during the off peak, the 259 was created, by merging the original ML2 and 3, in a one way loop round Hunsworth and East Bierley and extended it to Brighouse. Even that one way loop runs on fresh hair sometimes

Mental isn't it? I hope Metro put their foot down. Does this mean that there will be a 228 and 259 going to Brighouse? That's crazy when it looks like major other urban areas may not gave a bus at all!

I'd say Elland to Brighouse is a fairly major link. It does seem odd that there are 4 different routes between Brighouse and Elland during the day, but nothing evenings and Sundays at all.

A lot of the patronage on the 278 route was between Elland and Brighouse. Mainly all of it was free passes though.

I could see every 15 mins to Hecky and then every 30 mins per existing service to Hudds. At the Leeds end it looks like there will be an every 15 minute service on routes 200/1 (was 220/221) with at a guess the 201A as a peak extension to Mirfield (to cover Heckmondwike Grammar and other schools). This would, however, leave Norristhorpe with no bus service through the day so wouldn't be surprised to see some uproar as there's quite a few old people in the area.

It seems that there will be no change to route 255, fortunately.
I wonder whether anyone will replace Squarepeg route 39 or restore its predecessor route 38? Had Yorkshire Tiger not left Leeds local services they may have been willing.

Having many different destinations for the same service is one thing that makes the Heckmondwike network needlessly complicated and with the above info it looks like it will be set to continue.
For example at the moment you have the 255 which is half hourly but only hourly past Scholes, the 221 which is half hourly but only hourly past Heckmondwike, the 268/268A where only alternate buses go to Wakefield. The 254 used to be the same where only hourly busss went to Wakefield. It’d be nice if they could have a good set of core routes where all the daytime journeys run the full route.

From the Feb changes, all 268/268A's will be just 268, and all going through to Wakefield. Years ago when 223/224's ran half hourly from Leeds-Halifax, there wasn't enough passengers to justify having it every half hour, so, having an hourly service keeps it running, providing enough passengers use it. We, the general public/enthusiasts don't have access to the passenger loadings of any particular service. Even though WE see one journey well used, it doesn't mean they all are. Take CityZAP Manchester-Leeds for example, even though maybe 3 journeys on a Saturday were well patronized, mainly with free pass holders, that doesn't pay for the service to run during the week when it was virtually empty for the majority of journeys.

well 201 has to be 221 and 201A has to be 223 so 200 must be a combination of the 220 & 222 Why the use of a suffix when their use only confuses people? I was in Heckmondwike the other day and someone asked what ‘A’ meant on the 268A and did it go to Dewsbury. The Heckmondwike routes to Leeds do take some work for passengers to understand and renumbering them will cause even more head scratching. I have to wonder if Arriva might be hell bent on making all passengers’ lives difficult; they certainly don’t run services for the benefit of their customers.

All three options (letter suffix, a different number, or the same number for different termini) will all confuse some passengers, as some are easily confused

What's with all the First registrations?
Shouldn't they just be alterations?

What's with all the First registrations? Shouldn't they just be alterations? They are - if you look at the full detail, they're listed as "Variation applications", but for some reason they show up in the list these were cut'n'pasted from as just "Registered". It's an odd and slightly confusing anomaly.
