NYCC could always run it themselves. Removes the contention surrounding ENCTS payments if the service is either run by a public body or tendered, which by fault or design is where NYCC are heading.
In all seriousness, doesn't it seem odd that a Conservative run council is taking public control of bus services? Not necessarily a bad thing if run well of course.

The passengers in Ripon will no doubt get a similar service to the one provided by NYCC in the Skipton area when Pennine Motors closed. Sixteen seat minibuses along with a reduced service designed to fit around the other duties the vehicles and drivers undertake. i.e school runs etc.

And of course Thirsk... thing is it works both ways. As US consultant Jarrett Walker lectures, taking buses out to run a few journeys in the peak is expensive and inefficient from an operators viewpoint, yet that's exactly what you'd have to do to offer peak time journeys on an otherwise NYCC run route that doesn't pay for itself off peak.

I saw that tweet from Transdev Harrogate, they made it sound as if Connexions had gone bust.

Also new registrations for the X1, X6A, X12 and X70 from the same date (X1 still with the operator listed as JONATHAN CRAIG TEMPLE) It’s JONATHAN CRAIG TEMPLE (PB0004063) that operates the X1, so unlikely to be listed under any other operator! Its not unknown for a service to be registered under another operator in the same organisation - happens with Centrebus, Stagecoach, First etc when they shuffle services between "companies" Two more registrations today listed by VOSA re the X70 and 412 but the detail of them reverts back to ones received on 11 October.

Sorry, I’ve no idea what point you’re trying to make, but variations or cancellations submitted to the TAO, for registered local bus services will only ever be shown under the O licence number of the operator that registered them. Each individual Stagecoach/First/Arriva etc OpCo will register separately the local bus services which they operate.

Centrebus for example swopped a number of registrations from one operation to another, something like from Centrebus North to Centrebus Holdings. My original comment was simply to make it clear than their had been no change to the operator of the X1 registration - they could in making a new registration register it for Harrogate Coach Travel and accompany it with a cancellation of the original. Clear now?

My original comment was simply to make it clear than their had been no change to the operator of the X1 registration - they could in making a new registration register it for Harrogate Coach Travel and accompany it with a cancellation of the original. Clear now? The difference, since you keep bringing up Centrebus as your example I will use them as that is who I work for but it would apply to any large multi-depot operation, is that Centrebus runs 211 buses (as of the 2nd Oct) from 6 depots in 3 geographical regions across 2 Traffic Areas using 4 O-licenses each reporting to and overseen by a different set of responsible Transport Managers (generally one or more of the Depot Operations Managers at the depots included and one or more of the Depot Engineering Managers ensuring at least one responsible person at each depot and all TMs being involved in the management of the License). Each depot is only on one O-License so if a service is transferred from one O-License to another it means either the route is moving depots or the depot is moving unit (for instance when Centrebus Holdings was set up, as a joint venture with Arriva it would always have had it's own O-License, a group of services were moved from Centrebus North to Centrebus Holdings because they moved from being operated by Leicester Depot to Hinckley Depot as they were largely Hinckley area routes) and vehicles are allocated to a specific depot and unless a short-term temporary loan all vehicles at that depot carry the legal signage for the License applicable to that depot and routes it is covering. Where a route is shared across O-Licenses a separate registration is submitted by each O-License detailing which License covers and is legally responsible for which journeys as is the legal requirement. In the Connexxions example you apparently have 2 O-Licenses running from the same depot and overseen by the same Transport Manager undertaking the same type of work, whilst this is not inherently a problem in and of itself the TC will look at it in detail if there are any issues and they don't look kindly on there no being a clear separation between the two businesses (such as vehicles/drivers being shared as a matter of course) and it is particularly an issue if vehicles routinely operate routes on an O-License they don't operate for (as indicated by the O-License disc & legal lettering displayed on the vehicle at the time).

From Transdev Harrogates Facebook page this evening "Good evening folks. We said we'd keep you updated of changes being made by other bus operators in Harrogate. We now understand that buses on routes X1 and X6 will be reduced from November 25th.
There are also some reductions being made on those buses to Wedderburn and Duchy, local buses in Ripon city and services between Knaresborough & Wetherby and Wetherby & Tadcaster. We are consulting with North Yorkshire County Council on many of these routes and will keep you posted here should there be further updates."

and a "revised route" for the X70 ! Well, that's true isn't it? It now runs from Harrogate to Tadcaster, and it will then run from Harrogate to Wetherby.

NYCC have announced they will be working the Wetherby-Tadcaster service from 26 Nov (as no.77) with some services cancelled, notably no service to Thorp Arch. They are providing a service to Thorp Arch Mon-Fri with a 0747 York-Wetherby 412; the vehicle then working the 77 and continuing off that as a 780 to Knaresborough High Street (not Bus Station) and back then 77...until it forms a 1725 412 back to York via Thorp Arch. The 77 and 780 also run on Saturdays www.northyorks.gov.uk/bus-service-changes-and-news

NYCC are running the Ripon local services from next week. Looking at VOSA however I cannot find any registration from them, or any other services including the Tadcaster-Sherburn services - is there some reason why they do not have to register them.

Could be something as simple as finding time for someone to post it on line.

I don't know, but they don't register any of their services with VOSA. A search only brings up the 14 and 16 in Skipton, both of which are shown as cancelled, which is not true because they are both still running. No mention of the other twenty routes they run.
