Not sure of the relevance but Lothian Buses 1064, a Volvo B8L/ADL Enviro 400XLB, is travelling down from Edinburgh for the Olive Grove bus depot open day tomorrow. I'm not generally keen on the ride quality of ADL buses but these tri-axle vehicles are certainly impressive looking buses and have the advantage of being built on a Volvo Chassis. Might be worth a trip down the M1 to Sheffield tomorrow if you've not seen one before. I have travelled on a goodly amount of these XLB's whilst in Edinburgh and can confirm they ride as good as they look. They currently have 80 of these fantastic buses in service, but i believe that's it for now, with no more planned orders for XLB's for the time being. The latest batch of deckers currently being delivered are B5TL's with ADL E400MMC bodies to Lothian's standard LWB 11.4m spec and despite reports stating all Lothian new decker order's would be dual-doored these are all single doored. Also now in service is a small batch of E400 City bodied BYD electric deckers.
