Looks like First will introduce a service 34, but it's not the 508 but the 33A. So, 33, 33A and 670 becomes 33, 34 and 35. Shame. I thought it could have been an opportunity to introduce the 34 as Leeds to Farsley, with the 508 reverting back to its old route. I would have liked the 508 to go back to a routing from Thornbury to leeds follows the X6. Same limited stop arrangement. Call it the X8. Since 72’s doing the job as it now runs at a higher frequency than it used to when the 508 had its old route through Stanningley Road. And then restore the old 15 route but via Bakerend Road into bradford rename it a number like (32)

Has it been said by First whats the reason behind it (such as improving timekeeping or simplifying the Kirkstall route numbers) or is it just a way of First not having to buy extra new vehicles for when the Low emissions zone comes into play?

I would be very surprised as they aren’t doing it. 32 is already in use and they’ve filled in the gap with the 34.
I’m guessing it’s so the next stage of the LeedsCity brand can use a nice set of route numbers and they can advertise the whole corridor, plus it means Rodley and Calverley can enter the brand which wouldn’t have happened if Bradford still ran the route.

Cmon, let's change the number 1 to the 651A and the 40 to the 67B while we're at it. No wonder the bus industry is on its arse, management should focus on running a decent service rather than doing stuff to confuse passengers and create hassle for people. To be fair it will stop passenger confusion at Guiseley when a 33A gets there and people having a go at the driver “why you not going to Otley”

Presumably it was on a 1-year contract that is now coming to an end? AFAIK that contract ran until April ‘19, along with the other ex Utopia contracts. According to the NYCC data hub that contract (SY17104) does indeed run until 28/4/19, so not sure why a cancellation has been submitted? Curious??

It would not be the first time they have terminated a NYCC contract early - the 56 and 57 for example (now Transdevs 21 and 22/23).

The X56 is coming back after 24 years??? It was only a peak time service before it disappeared. Is it possible to upload a file on the mobile version of this site?

64 to be operated under contract from First Mon-Sat. Connexions will sell First tickets and run to a similar timetable.
First admitting they don't have enough resource for routes/expansion?

I predict the bottom one will result in the same discussions as stuff like this always does.. The 671 will be interesting as the current 633 is every 30 mins, but the 670 is hourly, so what frequency will the new service have? I also wonder where they have plucked the number 35 from. The change to the 670 will see the end of any link between Bradford and Leeds via Kirkstall. The "old" route was served by the WYRCC 30 (later 670) and occasionally the 43 Bradford-Scarborough. The newly-renumbered 670 was the first bus to depart the new Bradford Interchange. There was also the 71 (15) that also provided a link via Kirkstall, but this has now gone.

The X26 launches on 15th October 2018 providing services to Thorpe Park from Leeds from 0525 to 2338 every day. It will run every 15 minutes during most of the day all day except evenings. The service will be increased to every 10 minutes once the new X27 service launches in December. Service 19/19A will also serve Thorpe Park all day every day. www.thorpepark-parklife.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/X26_X27-Timetable-Full.pdf

M'mmm, interesting - the graphics on that timetable suggest the use of orange-branded LeedsCity StreetDecks.

Blimey, they are throwing a lot of resources at that aren't they. Looks like a PVR of 9 buses which is massive for a new service.

I suspect a large pile of money has come from the developers, the hope being by the time the money runs out it will have built up enough patronage to replace it if not then it’ll go the same way the frequencies on routes like the 16 etc have down!

Incorrect, fully commercial. Is this forum just for slating operators? 16 frequency result of ever increasing congestion, same amount of buses taking longer to get round. Needs to be more action with LCC pumping more and more buses into the cycle slowing journeys down isn't the answer. Road changes needed.

Yes, road changes are needed. It seems as though after the trolleybus debacle that Leeds Council and WYCA are going to put in serious bus measures on 5 corridors and improvements elsewhere. It has to be done within 5 years or they lose the government money which was instead of a trolleybus.
