I’m surprised they are seen as life expired, with the low daily mileage, I would have thought they could have gone on for 20 years.
They will be phased out by July 2020
End of an era, whatever you may think about them, they’ve been a regular sight on the roads of West Yorkshire over the last 13 years.

Something else for WYCA to sell to get some money in the coffers I’m guessing? Should imagine First will buy theirs outright off WYCA like they did with the early BMC high floor school buses.

Not sure why they'd want them other than for spare parts. If the BmCs are going assume the work is going with them..

No the work isn’t going, assuming the same operators win the tenders that is.
Metro have said buses provided by the operators themselves once new contracts start have to be Euro 6 (so they can’t just stick on a W reg ALX400) and those serving primary schools still have to have seat belts, so acquiring the BMCs themselves may be an easy and sensible option.

Are the BMC's Euro 6?

I hope this isn’t a typical public sector hash up. I’ve looked on that website and the BMCs are the only buses on there, everything else is a goods vehicle.
Therefore no doubt nobody will buy the BMCs or it they do they’ll only end up getting one bidder.
Why not sell them at a known second hand bus dealer?

Remember the auctioneer is going to make money on this so it'll be in the trade mags, facebook groups & eBay. They wont not publicise it.

There is an advert in the back of this weeks Bus & Coach Buyer advertising them for sale via auction for one.

Most of the ones for sale seem to be the Transdev Keighley ones. We know the are replacing them with ex Rosso presidents.
There has been no info so far about if First are losing many of theirs this year, and any news of anything being transferred in to replace them.

Can everyone keep their eyes peeled if you see a MyBus, so we can see which if any have gone, particularly First West Yorks.

Does anyone know exactly why West Yorkshire CA has adopted this policy? Metro always seemed so proud of it. Is it costing too much to administrate?; are they having difficulty with bus spares now the vehicles are over ten years old?; or is there another reason? The other interesting question is how many contracts have already ended and how fast are others going to be ended.

Difficulty in getting parts as the buses get old. Of course if they’d bought something more normal, this wouldn’t have become a problem.
Also reduced home to school funding means the scheme has lost a bit of its purpose and many buses are just running services to secondary schools doing nothing more than a normal bus would.

The other interesting question is how many contracts have already ended and how fast are others going to be ended. The buses aren’t DDA (PSVAR) compliant, so can no longer be used from 1st January 2020. Rather than have to replace the entire fleet at once, they have worked with operators on a phased withdrawal, and their replacement with conventional buses.

Does anyone know how much the first wave of buses sold for on average? There are another 2 waves of withdrawn BMCs to come so wonder what they're worth?
