Obviously they couldn't go with The York Bus Company, as they plainly aren't, so they've gone with this instead.
Whether or not this will just be for the ex-Stephensons routes or extend to all York city buses remains to be seen. I don't think a local bus in York has received a repaint in years, and most are in various defunct schemes.

It has been a depot that rapidly gained work in the last year through the collapse of Stephensons and Utopia which has led to a rapid influx of surplus vehicles from elsewhere. Given no more Darts were repainted into Little Explorer livery, there is 705 sat at Keighley spare which could have acted as a cover, I wonder if the Versas that are going to be displaced at Harrogate by the electrics are destined for York. As it is there are only three vehicles at the depot in the current livery, Versa 206 and Enviros 1107 and 1107. Versa 203 is in York branded Coastliner livery

It would be daft if they didn't include the 20 and 42 in the new brand - with the 22 already having it's own brand, and recently liveried buses, it would be understandable if that remained separate, especially as it spans York and Harrogate.
The question is, will they make a better fist of it than their lacklustre and half-hearted attempt to roll out the white rose livery...
Interesting that the page on their website refers to them being awarded the contract for the 181 between Malton and Castle Howard ... no mention of whether it will run through to York. There are no new timetables either on their website or on NYCC as yet. Does this mean the 181 will be split? The Malton to Castle Howard section could interwork with the 194, using a single bus to cover both routes - and the York to Castle Howard section could sensibly be run as a stand-alone service with a single bus, maybe still with Connexions - although hopefully that wouldn't sever the links between Welburn and York. All speculation and guesswork at the moment!

NYCC quite clearly have "Yorkshire Coastliner" as the operator of the 181 from Feb 19 with the comment that the "3.15pm from Malton to York on Saturday and during the school holidays will no longer operate." Looks like a typo by Yorkbus probably by copying the extant reference they have to the 181 and the through fare off Coastliner to Castle Howard.

Has anyone else crunched the numbers to work out the PVR for 'York and Country' work now.
I'm thinking it works out as 7 in total, the 7th one seemingly very light.

Has anyone else crunched the numbers to work out the PVR for 'York and Country' work now. I'm thinking it works out as 7 in total, the 7th one seemingly very light. The whole setup seems quite inefficient, just as it always did under Stephensons. Yes, it looks like 7 buses for the ex-Stephensons routes, although if the 20, 22 and 42 are joining the "York & Country" brand then you've got another 7 needed there. I've had a go at working out a scheduling plan for the routes: In terms of fleet resources, it strikes me that they ought to be able to combine the 181 and 194 into two diagrams without a significant reduction in frequency, or include the 193 town service within the existing diagrams – there are gaps big enough to slot in a 193 at 0800, 0840, 1030, 1230, 1420, 1520 and 1710, which would make a useful contribution to the service without requiring NYCC to put on an extra bus to run it. Now sure, there may be staffing implications for doing that, and if gaps are needed to allow for breaks then it may need an extra driver, which could mean it is not as efficient as it sounds, but it seems a great shame that the opportunity to rationalise the timetables wasn't taken, especially if the 193 could have been factored into the contracts at little extra cost.

They are also operating the school 226R to Norton College which will fill in those school time gaps in the 181 timetable
