It is discrimatory as cars are allowed to illegally park and screw up bus services and emergency services, Complainant is just blaming the wrong culprit which is Leeds council and not First

Yes, the "best" solution to this problem would be double yellows along both sides of the full length of Chestnut Avenue and the bus-served part of Queens Road. Second best would be double yellows all along one side. But both of those would discriminate against car-owning residents, of course!

I do not see how enforcing the highway code is discriminating against errant drivers. We have the expense of yellow lines and other things because soem drivers are selfish or stupid. If buses are delayed or blocked so are ambulances and fire engines and this should be seen as intolerable. Up and down the UK elderly and disabled people lose htere bus services becasue of a selfish and dangerous minority

I’ve driven the 56 for 18 months now, and I’ve only had a few problems on Chesnut Avenue. Once when a skip was getting collected, the other with an ambulance - both completely understandable. The main problem is Queens Road, coming from Leeds down Royalpark Road, you are unable to fully see if a bus is coming in the other direction. Therefore, sometimes the corner is difficult. Then you have the problem during the day off cars parked inconsideratly by the car garage, also the amount of private hires picking students up. During the evening and nights, takeaway cars are parked in the bus stop, a bus stop which you always stop at. If there’s an event on at the Brudenel Social Club, or it’s a decent summers day, you get a lot of passengers, especially the elderly going into the Royal Park pub.. the kerb there isn’t drop, but still with lowering the bus, it is still a fair step. Private hires always parked in the kerb outside the gelato shop so you can’t use your over hang to make the turn easier, and the drivers round there have hardly or little common sense, they keep coming towards you when you’ve blocked the road off for safety. I used to use my hazard lights, that way they know full well I ain’t moving til it’s say.
The new route still needs passengers to get used to, the two stops on Hyde Park Road need to be changed to say Moor Grange etc, and then another should be put on Vicky Road. Also the new route creates delays at the lights at the Hyde Park pub, and also on a evening cars are littered outside the one stop. I can see the route staying for a while, especially if the council are adamant on making Queens Road one way, it’s there to stay.
To lighten the mood... can anyone explain to me why I’ve taken so many Old pound coins on the 56 than any other route I do.

A late change. The 0750 563 from Halifax will now run 5 minutes earlier and divert via Rastrick High School. This journey will be numbered 563A.
This is as a result of the fall out from the axing of the 278, it isn’t just Brooksbank pupils that used it.
