I was pleased to read in the latest (December) page from Lancashire CC that the broken link between Todmorden and Bacup may well be restored next February. They are currently searching for an operator to run a Mon - Sat daytime service. Cannot see it paying, but perhaps a minibus route every 2 hours maybe the way ahead.

Could this be a good route for TLC? mmm000

It's probably got the service it needs already just at school times taking children 'over the hill' and not much more other than fresh air. Service 465

I did wonder if Transdev maybe able to offer some sort of replacement service between Todmorden and Bacup - with the recent news of the takeover of Rosso, this now does seem to be a possibility. Maybe they could extend the 463 Burnley - Bacup to Todmorden and therefore re-establishing a long broken link. Even more fanciful (cannot see this happening), have a circular service running Burnley - Tod - Bacup - Burnley! This journey could be found being promoted in Todmorden Corporation / JOC's timetable up to the mid 60s - give First a bit of much needed competition!

They didn't seem too keen on the Todmorden to Burnley service they inherited from Northern Blue - that didn't last very long after the takeover..

They kept it for quite a few years as part of Starship service 1, but it was withdrawn later as Burnley locals were paired back across the board.

Excellent news, just a month or two after it was first mooted. Meanwhile there doesn't seem to be anything happening about restoring the through Halifax-Keighley service, although that has been talked about for months now and is all within West Yorkshire.

WYCA received details of how much bus companies would want to run that service some time ago. Given the silence since, I'd say it's not looking good. The 465/6 is a commercial decision. This one is about subsidising a service (which I'd find very useful) that runs entirely along roads that are currently served by other bus services.

The new 466 is an LCC funded service, which will be using up some of the extra £1m they recently committed to subsidised bus services across the county ...and beyond!
