Evening all,
For the second time today it seems Transdev are quite keen on their very cryptic tweets:
Alongside the 36 branding and hashtag, simply sits the number '10'
Could this be a frequency increase to every 10 minutes perhaps? And if so, will we be seeing some more B5s to cover the increased PVR? I wonder....

2 cities - Leeds to Wakefield. Long established route number 10. Any route, in direct competition with the new X10 by Stagecoach?

Agree, perhaps I am also being a little cryptic in my comments!

Every 10 Minutes, reducing Harrogate to Ripon to every 20 minutes in the process?
It's probably something much less significant to do with ticketing or free bacon rolls with every 10 journeys or something.

I reckon it'll be Harrogate to Leeds boosted to every 10 mins, with Ripon being reduced to every 20 or maybe 30. This would fit with a new Cityzap route from Ripon to Leeds to make up the shortfall.

Could be every 20 to Ripon, every 20 to Knaresborough which might explain the VOSA cancellation of the Knaresbrough estates sections of Route 1 journeys and the 36 being described as via Knaresborough.

Surely if they were going to do that that then cryptic message would be published by the 'cityzap' social media. I go for 10 minute Leeds-Harrogate and 20 Harrogate-Ripon.

Be a good idea to get in before the train services goes to being 4 an hour.

Almost certainly not that - the 36 has a timetable change at the end of October, the new Cityzap service starts a week later.

Apparently there will be some 'improvements' to the service from October so I think it's likely we'll see an increase to every 10 minutes.
I'm not sure if the Harrogate-Ripon section will be reduced though. Is it used well enough to need a 15-minute frequency?
There's also the question of PVR, and if the route does require more vehicles, where they'll come from especially as part of the 36 is the fact it uses such high spec vehicles.

Well 15 into 10 doesn't go, so I expect we will see a drop to every 20 mins. You'd expect the Ripon section to not be as busy as the Leeds section.

Every 20 does not got into every 30 neither but it does on a Sunday on the 36! Tweet today confirm it is every 10 minutes although whether its the full route length is unclear " alextransdev tells @hgchamber of plans to turn #36 into "almost wait-less service" services - with departures every 10 mins."

I think there must be a frequency reduction somewhere, I can't imagine an order of extra high spec buses would have not been announced by now, even if they hadn't mentioned what they were and where they were going.

What happened to the buses previously on the 36? They could return, or divert some of the new buses due for Coastliner?

What happened to the buses previously on the 36? They could return, or divert some of the new buses due for Coastliner? Some of them went to CityZap I, I'm not sure about others. Given that they were taken off the 36 because even refurbished they were not providing the level of service required, it would be something of a retrograde step to bring them back - and at nearly 15 years old, you would have to question how much longer they will be running in front-line service. Edit: The other 6 are at Blackburn running the Red Express.

I certainly wouldn't expect the old ones back - I mean they are old, but they have been highly refurbished and having used the Cityzap regularly, I can say they're still in pretty good condition. But they're going to need to be moved on eventually. Hopefully they don't divert any of the new coastliner fleet due, they were going to be here by the end of this year so they've already been pushed back enough.
The only additional vehicle I can see being available is 3613 (BF62 UXZ) which is based at Harrogate, and has free Wifi and USB power. It's already used as the 36 spare.
A reduction to every 20-mins would seem likely to Ripon. At least that part of the route definitely does not need to go to every 10 mins.

Theres also 3614 at Harrogate, like 3613 refurbished in Harrogate Red, albeit dating from 2005

Would Transdev consider splitting the route at Harrogate? Leeds-Harrogate every 10 minutes during the off peak would need 12 buses. If Harrogate-Ripon goes every 20 minutes it looks like 5 vehicles would be required but by splitting the route it would reduce spreading delays across the network and reduce the need for additional high spec vehicles for the Leeds section, although could possibly lead to inferior buses on the Ripon section

Well it seems there can be surprises! 3 new B5TLs on order, which will make the frequency every 10 mins Harrogate - Leeds. Presumably, that way the Ripon frequency will stay how it is.

You'd need 6 more to do that (it's about a 2 hour round trip Leeds to Harrogate), so I expect reducing Ripon to every 20 is still on. I think that's still sufficient, as it wasn't traditionally every 15.
