719 still out in Leeds but with "Sorry not in service" on the destination indicator.
I've always wondered why some Spectras have smooth engine covers and orders have a "punched holes" style ventilation grille.

Thanks for that interesting snippet of information dtm504. I'd wrongly suspected that the 'punch out' was some Arriva modification. I'd always assumed that the 52 reg examples were at end of the series too. Hard to believe now that these buses coped on X33 after struggling on after repeated "max rev" stretches of some of the routes run by Selby depot. I've always thought they were more suitable for city/urban stop-start routes, like their distant MCW Metrobus predessesor. 110 and 425/7s being perfect examples, given they are almost a solidly urban routes.

Saw 710 in service this afternoon operating a 427 in south east Morley. Ironic as 1710 passed it travelling in the opposite direction operating a 425 service.

Since when has Arriva been involved in the races buses anyway? It used to be a 3 way split between First, Transdev and York Pullman. Has someone dropped out or is it now a 4 way split?

Since when has Arriva been involved in the races buses anyway? It used to be a 3 way split between First, Transdev and York Pullman. Has someone dropped out or is it now a 4 way split? From what I've heard, Arriva decided to register a commercial YR1 service, but due to the problems that would entail, as return tickets would only be valid on their journeys, it was decided to invite them into the 197 'pool' and that would allow inter availabilty of return tickets after the races had finished.

703 spotted operating a 427 this evening. I was most surprised to see this now that all of the E400MMC are in service as indirect Spectra replacements.
