One of those 6 options look likes a replacer from the Yorkshire Rider days and early overground first days. 93/96, 6/6A come to mind?

I like the idea of rerouting the 97 away from Headingley centre as that may improve reliabilty. As for the X84, i presume they mean an extra bus added to the PVR rather than an increase in frequency? I think 1 journey going via Pool is a good idea though. Sounds like they are getting the extra bus for the x84 by withdrawing the 965 service

Very interesting; i really hope that they go every 15 minutes with the new X85 via pool every half hour.
What i also find interesting is what they are going to be doing with the 97/19A. There will be suddenly 5 buses an hour running up Rawdon and it feel's as if Yeadon is used as the easiest turn around point rather then adding any value to the route. Couldn't they use Trinity campus to turn the service around?
I, personally, feel that the 19A will suffer from a lot of problems and cause more problems then create solution. Looking at the journey times already you have: At peak - 1 hour 28 minutes Tinshill to Garforth, 1 hour 32 minute return. Off Peak - 1 hour 16 minutes Tinshill to Garforth, 1 hour 19 minute return.
It is a very long route for them to counter any problems that they may experience; and they have vowed to try and change driver duties etc to prevent cancellations on the 97 and i feel the 19A will suffer a lot of cancellations or 'short runnings' to assist with recovery of the service or to prevent drivers been illegal from driving over there allowance without a break etc.
The only way i can see first prevent this is to split the 19A into two "separate routes" and have absorption time in Leeds. Yeadon-Leeds, Leeds-Garforth & Vv. IMO, they would of been better splitting the 19/19A to cover Leeds-Ireland Wood/Tinshill/Yeadon and then create a new service 20/20A or 18/18A to cover the Leeds-Garforth section.

Follow the exact 97 route to Town hall, will then spin around using Ivegate, Harper Lane & the bus terminus at the top besides Morrisons. One has to wonder what the turn around time will be at Yeadon end - 15 minutes?

One has to wonder what the turn around time will be at Yeadon end - 15 minutes? Carnt see it following exactly the same route as the 97,with the 97 running every 20 Mins & the 19A running every half hour it would result 2 buses basiccly following each other at least once an hour.

In this day and age, I think First should be applauded for taking a risk and introducing new links. Far too easy for a big company to sit back and continue the status quo.

It's a good solution to the 97. Adding the 19A. Only thing I can think of is an overrun for the route. Would be best to split at Leeds with a route Like that. Seems a smarter idea. Also on the car epidemic of Headingley. It's actually people that pay the for the car parks work in the city, or probably coming from the Inner Ring Road onto the A660 that tend to clog it up. Also the bad bit with Headingley it serves as a very good Cross through junction between places like Bramley, Kirkstall, to the West, and Meanwood, Harehills, Chapeltown to the East without navigating on the ring road. I see most people on car going through that junction of Shaw Lane and Kirkstall Lane/North Lane than waiting for a 38 or 91 As I work at Leeds University and drive (try not to drive too work lol) , most students don't own cars, infact try parking near Leeds uni is virtually near impossible, even for students. For staff is £7 a day to use the Leeds Uni car park and it isn't cheap, no student budget could even pay for that lol.

An annual permit costs between about 80p and £3.50 per day, depending on salary and car tax band, and taking into account holidays and suchlike. Ours, for a small family car and a mid-range salary, costs about £1.20 per day.

Ours, for a small family car and a mid-range salary, costs about £1.20 per day. It works out around £70 for a month and £210 per year for me to use Leeds University Staff to park the car (Yearly I get 220 days to use, rather than a more generous 300 odd) Excluding weekends. The car parks also not free for staff to use over the summer out of term period during the Mon to Fri daytime hours. I pay for my individual days to use the car park for example when the weather bad during winter. Or when my work team are very short staffed, means I'm in work stress free. Think that's the real time I use mine. It's rare that I use it. Most people who use it tend to get an annual one. By the way, Woodhouse Lane council car park across the road is a popular one on the A660 corridor to use and can even cost considerably more over a working day. If someone was to pay for that everyday. Was going to say maybe in the future Woodhouse Lane may end up Similar to Oxford Road in Manchester, a bus only, bike priority road.

Please keep the discussion on topic (several superfluous and uninteresting posts detailing rivalry between local universities have now been deleted)
