It has been said earlier that there will be 35 Optares this year, and 30 Versas for the Mainline in Burnley, so I'd guess the other 5 will be for Keighley, Versas or Solos?
The other 8, the electric Volvo's for Harrogate?

WYIS has an unspecified number of Solos on order for Keighley so that makes the 43 the 30 Burnley Versas, 5 Keighley Solos and 8 Harrogate Electrics. The Versas are stated as allowing B10BLEs to be replaced (Burnley has 14) and B7RLEs displaced (Burnley has 17). Blackburns 8 Tempos are listed as returning off lease in June; wonder if enough Versas arrive by then for 8 B7s to be made ready for Blackburn.

Today's tweet announces 43 brand new buses this year to be split between Keighley, Harrogate & Burnley, most to be built in Yorkshire so assume mainly Optare. Specifics to be announced later. Interesting – by my count they have 47 B10BLEs across the Keighley, Burnley, Harrogate and Blackburn fleets. We know that the buses for Harrogate are electric Volvos, and the buses for Burnley (Mainline) are Versas; presumably the buses for Keighley will be Versas as well.

I've got my old abacus out again and using the UK Buses fleetlist I've counted 68 Volvo B10B (including one step-entry), 3 Dennis Javelins which need replacing. I hope the new buses coming are bought rather than leased. I'm only talking about single deckers here, I've said enough about double deckers.

Why do the B10BLEs need replacing? Many are MyBuses, some are being refurbished for the 22 so won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Exactly, all of those in regular passenger service are compliant with DDA and are in good condition as many have had a mid life refurbishment.
If buses are leased then they are likely to be replaced earlier than those which are bought, just look at the B7RLE's, Gemini's and Versa's which have moved on recently, all newer than the B10BLEs you want rid of. Leasing new vehicles seems to favour your whole argument that when a bus gets old it must be replaced as soon as possible, so why do you hope new buses are bought?

Once these 8 buses enter service, along with the other buses they already have at varying stages of readiness for further service, there will be very few - if any - active Olympians still to be withdrawn across the Transdev Blazefield operations.

Even DDA compliant buses get old, wear out and have to be replaced. Leasing leads to a fleet which is very new or very old and nothing in between.
It would be a different matter if Transdev leased 1/7th of its fleet every year. But this isn't the case, and it looks like many of the Volvo B10BLEs will be going on until well into their twenties. Surely it works out more expensive to both pay off leases and maintain an elderly fleet at the same time?

Surely it works out more expensive to both pay off leases and maintain an elderly fleet at the same time? Leasing is simply a different way of spreading the investment costs, and as the option to renew/renegotiate leases is available, it doesn't really have any more or less of an impact on fleet age profile, than financing outright purchases, and then deciding when to sell them. Many older vehicle types are significantly cheaper to run, particularly if they are used primarily on low mileage school bus work, like most of the older Transdev stuff. Therefore leasing new well spec'd buses for their core routes, whilst maximising the use of older economically advantageous buses on light work, seems to make a lot of sense.

B10BLE 305 is on loan from Harrogate to York covering for accident damaged Versa 276. I believe 305 has now been replaced at York... by de-branded former Unibus 1054.

1054 has reverted to its original registration - tweets today show a Blackburn Valley Line B10BLE 574 re-registered as B10YKV. WYIS report 1092 as being B10 YKW which was formally carried by Unibus 1059. Unibus B10BLEs 1012, 1013, 1016 have also reverted to their original registrations.

The debranded B10BLEs at Starbeck are having promotional wording re the forthcoming vehicles. Found a picture of 305 on Flickr www.flickr.com/photos/jep2510/34688449740/Either another one or the offside of this one references the number of new or "reinvigorated" vehicles arriving in the next 3 years.
