As we know our very elderly Olympians are leaving First. Let's talk about what buses have been withdrawn so far and what is taking over them.

Olympians still in service at Huddersfield - 30815/8 30821-23 and 30840. If you know the ones in service at Halifax, that would be helpful to make a note on here about that.

According to my records the remaining Volvo Olympians still in service at Halifax should be: Royales: 30800, 30805, 30809, 30812 and 30844, Alexander RH: 31774, 31775, 31807 and 31808 and Northern Counties: 34107 and 34211. Some of these are due off anytime due to some ALX400s arriving from South Yorkshire.

I would guess that this could spell the end of the ALX 400s in Leeds.

ALX400`s seem to have disappeared off Hunslet Park routes in Leeds in the last few days.

Can the Royales be used on schools after January 2017? I am just wondering when the last of these 'step entranced classics' will depart.

Can the Royales be used on schools after January 2017? I am just wondering when the last of these 'step entranced classics' will depart. I think the original plan, was to rid FWY of all step-deckers by the end of July. As always things can, and probably will change. I believe the plans were dependent on the incoming cascade of buses from FSY, however once again these are not yet all in service. The remaining Royale's at Hudd's and Halifax are still on daily front line service. My hunch is, some will remain in service beyond July, but there are no guarantee's. Speculatively, it's possible that when the X6 is converted to full Streetdeck operation, this will enable the displaced B9TL's to (indirectly) replace the remaining Royale's/RH's in Bradford. Also when Leeds's full allocation of Streetdecks are in service (If, they aren't already), Leeds could transfer their remaining ALX's to Bradford/hfx and Hudds. The only sure thing is, the clock is ticking. The remaining step-deckers in WY could be withdrawn on an almost daily basis, it all depend's on when their replacement's are ready to enter service.

30922-30934 will move from Leeds to Halifax or Huddersfield to replace Olympians. The cascades from South Yorkshire are in progress and this should be sufficient to ensure Olympian operation ends in July. Further shuffles will take place to remove non DDA B7TLs plus some Solos and singles in the autumn.

Most or if not all 309** buses have been changed to fit the DDA policy.

I rarely venture across to Hudds and Halifax, what services do the Royale's/ Olympians usually operate so that I can get some pics and a few trips?
Cheers

Halifax All 3 boards on the new 520 are generally Olympians, but bear in mind it runs schooldays only off peak. One afternoon peak board on the 579 is often an Olympian.
Anything else would be considered a misallocation. 510/512, 579 are probably more frequent than anything else.
Huddersfield Any appearance would be considered a misallocation, last week there was one on the 372, one on the 181/183 and one on the 308. The 181/183 is a regular as it has school journeys on the board.
