From the look of it, the driver would have to get out to go round and open the door , as it was just a normal van !!! Hardly a premium service , you go from having a nice modern arriva Gemini on it during the day, to that at night !!! how are LOT getting a way with using that as the door for passengers wouldnt be accessible (it can only be used on stand A at Batley and the white rose stands) as it would mean passengers walking off the path to board (also no wheelchair passenger can use it and you get a few on 212/223/252), H&SE (Health & Safety Executive) would have a field day with the breaches of health and safety. There's also no side or rear destination blind, I thought this was now what all buses had to have.

I saw that myself as I believe that was a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, was strange seeing that on the route as I assume that bus would be a step entry model. Michael Windle From the look of it, the driver would have to get out to go round and open the door , as it was just a normal van !!! I think it was the vw, and to be fair I've just seen a picture of it and it does have proper doors, but still looks like a van and probably seats about 12, Why on earth metro lets them even tendor is beyond me.

Yes I stand corrected, indeed it was a VW Crafter, thought it was a Sprinter with the body shells being the same. Thank you for the correction! Michael Windle

The bus has power doors and is fully accessible flic.kr/p/GJ8PmkYes it's not ideal, but every operator provides a bus too small from time to time, Arriva have form for using little darts on peak services into Leeds. In LOT's case I can't imagine the 223 on a Sunday evening being very busy so everyone probably was able to board.

Pedant mode: It's not a Crafter. That model name was only brought in with the current style of van/minibus. This shape would be an LT46 i think.

Whatever this Minivan thing is, it was in Leeds bus station again tonight. There was a driver and assistant who opened his door and took the passenger's fares. Strange.

I saw an Ex-Stagecoach Sheffield bus on the 444 this evening. Anybody know what this is all about?
Also there was a Huddersfield Streetlite on the 229 in Leeds.

Tinpot firm Haha, I overheard the bus station staff (Security/ whatever their job title is) taking the piss as it was parked in the layover next to a Keighley President that made it loom even smaller.

New driver couldnt get to grips with the ticket machine, As for opening the doors, it would have been impossible for me to do as the door controls are to the right of the driver. As for the vehicle it's a Volkswagon LT and carries 16 passengers. That vehicle was purchased because Metro requested a 16 seater vehicle with Seat belts for tendered journeys on service 197, however LOT have been advised by Metro that the LT can go on ANY service if needed.

If you look further back on Spotted May, you'll see that somebody has put the Cancellation of Stagecoach 444 Wakefield - Leeds, from July

Surely if Metro or VOSA knew about this happening on a regular basis neither one would be happy that 22 seater vans are appearing on their tenders? Feel sorry for the residents that have gone from double deckers to vans and small buses run by a tinpot firm.

For the past two nights it's had to go out because someone shot one of the bus windows on a Primo.

Doesn't exactly look professional, looks like something that would get used to transport hen night parties around...
